  • Now a fatter ball!

First a non rugby league field...watch out for the 'concrete' starting just over the sideline...could easily break bones if landing on that...or do head and face some damage.

Now the Vegas teams are not even playing the games with a rugby league ball.
Playing with some new RL invention, a 'fatter' ball.

All shown on tv news tonite.

I just saw that report and wondered how can these games be considered to be part of the competition. Different field size and heavier ball?

      Same for both teams

The smaller field is an advantage to us. Reece Walsh and his speed will be much easier to handle. Id rather be playing him on this field than at Suncorp first up

For a moment there I thought this was another post about Latrell Mitchell.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

It's getting a bit silly, like when Super League ran their comp here. They need to try and "normalise' things more for next year. Competition points are at stake.

And ch 7 reports "a harder surface than usual".
I'll be happy if we get away with no injuries...win or lose.
Good experience for the Club and players I guess, but I'm happy we'll never have to go there again.

Might as well just keep inflating it until it's round. Easier to kick and catch so we'll get a faster game... right? :P

IMO the game's purely for gambling revenue. Special event where a bunch of cashed up regulars can focus purely on the numbers as a bit of a novelty. The players / marketing dudes have almost expressly stated this during interviews.

Dunno what to think really. It looks like it's fun for the boys and we usually get spanked in the first round anyway.

If there's boys who've been training hard during the off-season (which is when you build your base of fitness) purely so they can go to Vegas then IMO it can only make us stronger.

I have a slight fear that the smaller field will favour Reynolds' kicking game but who knows?!?!?

The other day a Japanese uni student won the Osaka marathon in 2:05 wearing shoes that a stack of 3-4 hour armchair 'advanced marathon runners' online believe are not suitable for a marathon. I run with guys who CANNOT perform unless it's 18'C, low humidity, less than 100m of elevation, they're wearing brand new Nike Vaporflies in a limited edition colour, they've taken a finely tuned concoction of supplements pre/during/post run and I'm 'taking it seriously' throughout the whole run. Sleep's a big thing too (they'll have nothing of me saying 'cool I get you that 6:30am is an early start but my son woke me with a nightmare at 1am, my dog needed to go out for a piss at 2am and I was up at 5am because I had to take public transport to your place in order to make this run happen, so cry me a river!!!'

Personal rant I know (what would a Jizzy post be without that?) However, these boys are younger than me, NRL training ain't 130km+ week of self-driven running and they're paid $$$, with massive support teams backing them. IMO Vegas should just be business as usual. It's just another day, another field and another game of footy. Nothing should change and I EXPECT us to play good footy no matter what...

Who remembers the Mitre balls from the 80's? they went a mile.

Not with our 2 tiny halves kicking the ball

They can barely get a regular steeden to go further than 10m

Our tiny halves make breaks and score/set up tries instead.
Cronk used to kick for field position deep into the corners...but that was in the old comp.

Walsh gave V'landys a Broncos scarf at the Vegas fan day on Friday.
He's shown in the Telegraph today wearing it, as he seemed to be basking in the glory of international fans recognising him.
