The Bunker was ruling on if the player was in play or just there as a so called blocker - Lindsay Collins was one off the ruck and the one penalised - Brandon Smith passed the ball back to Sam Walker instead of Lindsay Collins. Nor sure what Lindsay Collins was supposed to do.
If it was to be a penalty then Victor Radley would have been the one penalised as he ran across the field to be behind Lindsay Collins as he was not a player potentially in play - i.e receiving the ball from Brandon Smith.
Also a few on here are querying whether the shoulder charge on Toops should have been a penalty try or Reece Walsh sin binned - Be interested in what the NRL interpretation is in their review of this match
Penalty Try Further, if circumstances warrant it: ‘The Referee (or Review Officials) may award a penalty try if, in his opinion, a try would have been scored but for the unfair play of the defending team. A penalty try is awarded between the goal posts irrespective of where the offence occurred.’
The professional foul in rugby league embodies a similar concept to other sports, a deliberate breach of the rules in order to prevent a scoring opportunity. The penalty for this offence is 10 minutes in the sin bin.Last edited by King Salvo; 03-03-2024, 07:02 PM.

Solid effort! Still early days but IMO with Keary/Walker/Sandon/Brandon clicking better what we're seeing is that suddenly Teddy, Manu and Sua'ali'i look like gold. Maybe... just maybe they were getting bullshyte service last year?
Wong, Butch, Collins, May and Leniu... STFU! How damn good are they?!?
Early days but IMO lotsa great vibes to build upon (noting, I don't think Brisbane are top-4 material this year so there will be surprises against other random sides... Brissy aren't the standard to beat).
PS - who are the chain smokers? Random. Probably Walsh or Mam, chain-smoking their coke...

What a game - following south’s getting done the boys were great in attack and defence
everyone played well
3. teddy - back to his best again and not trying to overplay his hand
2. Manu - let’s do whatever we can to re sign this guy, surly with jwh, Suaali, critchon and maybe toops gone we will have an extra $200k or so
1. radley - best game I have seen him play since 2020 before his acl
The halves were good and the cheese was hard to handle
the backs went well even suaali at centre (and we have young and smith to come back!
Collins was strong and Terrell may a good 160mtr off the bench
the boys know now they can match and beat the good teams again

Result? Nothing. Farking weird as it was a drop-goal, there were NO chasers/valid charge-down possibilities from the Drongos and it was purely a technical penalty on a play that in no way benefited from Collins' presence. WHY DID WE NEED THIS?!?!?

Now they've got a Trinity boy from Yawnion, known as the Anaconda to the insiders.

Lenui was enormous today and will only get better for the run . JWH will take him under his wing and mentor him to be a leader in our pack . I mean this is in a positive way ! Lenui showed he is a proud rooster already and it is only game 1 . Not sure what went on with Mann , but if true it is not on !! He will learn and only get better .
