A friend of a friend told me that during the GF Mam was going around calling all of the islander boys coconuts, which they just laughed off.
Assuming it even happened (which has not been established) - I'm sorta curious to know why a Samoan guy calling a Torres Strait Islander a 'monkey' is a special form of racism that is intolerable (given it's not even a racial slur that's specific to indigenous Australians / Torres Strait Islanders).
If the allegation was that it was some form of racially motivated rant that was PERSONAL and dug deep then I'd get it. However, IMO he was just p!ssed that he was getting beaten and trying to milk a penalty. It's shyte that guys like 'Trell have gotten behind him without knowing what happened because it puts pressure on the NRL to do something proactive and not (for example) warn Ezra that his false claim had the potential to bring the game into disrepute.

First of all innocent until proven guilty.
Secondly the trial by media, including social media, needs to stop. Realistically of course it won’t. Leniu is at a disadvantage here because most of the media is going to go against him because to assume he is guilty rather than the presumption of innocence will generate more clicks, more stories of shock and disgrace and uproar. Latrell is a walking, talking headline so of course whatever he says is going to make the news even though he wasn’t actually present at the alleged incident. Also, the more stories and uproar, the more reactionary the NRL is likely to be. It really is a very crap situation.
Some will know how I loath racism. At the moment it is one person’s word against the other. If there is clear evidence that Leniu said what Mam claims he should and will cop a suspension. In this day and age it should not be tolerated, not to mention the fact it’s just plain stupid with all the education the players get these days. To criticise Mam’s reaction is also wrong. People react differently in certain situations, we are not all the same, we have not all lived the same experiences.
But innocent unless proven guilty. This whole incident has sadly taken away from what was a fantastic win and start to the season.

Things get said in the heat of battle. Why not a system where, if it's the first time you've been charged with making a racist remark, you have the chance to admit it, speak with the player you said it to and apologise, and we move on? If you become a repeat offender then fair enough, you should do some time.
A coloured man calling another coloured man a monkey???!!! Get real.
I bet if they were mates and called each other the 'n' word, neither would run off crying to the teacher.
I'd rather be called a gorilla or ape than a monkey anyway.
The whole thing is juvenile and should have been dealt with immediately after the game. The Brisbane players are proven liars, so if Lenui is suspended based on their statements, I'd be appealing the judgement and suing the pants off them.1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

The NRL will be setting a very dangerous precedent if they convict Leniu on the alleged hear say of the accusers team mates
I don’t know much about Spencer. He has only worn Roosters colours once - he could be a wonderful and respectful human being who has been wronged by Mamm. Or he could be Ivan Milat. Let’s wait and see what happens.

I find that so offensive. Monkeys and giraffes are all creatures of the jungle.
Is NRL 360 on tonight? I wonder which two drew he is innocent card and which 2 drew the opposite.
Let me guess PK is chief executioner.

Mind you, I believe that strategically placed listening devices have reveals that Lenui said to Mam, "I've got your mum's key to her bedroom'.1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
