You have to go through the process, so it doesn't help with opposition players/former players and what not wanting a lengthy ban before any review of the alleged incident has taken place.

It's not France, where you are guilty until proven innocent.

I'm not sure what evidence other than what Mam alleges the NRL has, so have to wait and see.

Looking at the incident, I didn't see that Mam was visually upset on the field, as has been reported. A few other social media sites allege that Mam was calling the Penrith Pacific Islander players coconuts, so I'm not sure if this is a continuation of that.

It looks very suspect to me.
Spencer will still be suspended in round 9. Peter Badel wrote a great article about Saint Ezra who walks on water and feeds the poor when not playing football.

I think we all know that Spencer crossed the line on the field and yes, we all think the Broncos have blown it out of proportion.

If the Roosters had of read the room in Vegas, they would have sent Spencer into the sheds to apologise this could have been cooled down.

What could have been a week suspension, will be six to eight weeks and like Pearce it will never be repeated again.

Telling them to come find him on a live interview. Saying it’s all fun and games. What a moron. The Club would be horrified by his behaviour and I can see some action being taken by them above and beyond anything the judiciary does.
Where was our clubs media manager to drag him off the field before bottom feeders like Read and Wielder got their interviews in, knowing full well the potential response they’d get from Spencer?

        I'm not making that assumption.

Where was the Roosters media manager in all of this?

What he said after the game has made the situation worse so why was he even allowed to talk to the media without some coaching or support.

The incident was never going to blow over unless Mam dropped the accusation, so were was Spencer’s support from the Roosters. Unless internally they already knew it was true and had decided to send him to the slaughter.

The argument that it can’t be a racial slur because Spencer is an Islander won’t hold any ground. The Andrew Symonds/Harbhajan Singh incident in the cricket would put paid to that argument.

IMO if he’s guilty, and he seems to have all but admitted it post game, then he cops his punishment and hopefully learns from it.

Any defense of ‘but he called me a coconut in the gf’ probably won’t hold up but the NRL can’t make their own rules regarding guilt/innocence so I think that without unequivocal proof and reasonable legal representation, he should get off.

I agree but unfortunately he did cross the line in his interviews. Challenging the Broncos to fight him off the field was foolish. Our staff should have hidden him from the media and the Broncos players. This week was all about the promotion for the NRL. Man should have complained privately and there would be nothing to see imo.

Speak for yourself. He hasn’t shamed me 1 little bit & I have a 0 care factor to what one person claims he said. I’m white & have had 100x worse said to me by indigenous people,it’s nothing & should be left that way. Also your claim about Collingwood is wrong as the broke the league record again last year for members. Clearly hasn’t hurt them & they still have huge sponsorship which dwarves the Roosters. They will also probably get nearly as many spectators to their opening round that the NRL will combined unfortunately . I mean I know the left aren’t bright & that facts aren’t high on their list of things, but honestly if you think the average punter or supporter is worried you’re ludicrous. Besides I haven’t heard proof yet or any audio,so until then it’s pure left media speculation & the whole thought of our own supporters jumping on players without any evidence is pathetic. Guarantee you yourself have said worse, you would have criminals in your family, members that have used racial, homophobic, derogatory terms as well, but yet you act like you’ve never done a thing in your boring, pathetic life.

So, loudmouth ****ing Fattrell is calling, nay, demanding a lengthy suspension for Spencer….amazing, since he should still be in long bay for assault on Joey Manu

The hard reality is that if a fan had been proved to be guilty of such racism then it would be a long ban from attending games. So in this case he will probably only get 10 or so weeks. It should be a lesson to be learnt fir such a low act.

Sam Kerr charged over racially aggravated harassment of a police officer....off the ABC online.
Can't help wondering if the reaction will be similar to Spencer?

It is all fun and games, what else could he say? I don't think he was inviting the Broncos players for a fight, just to clear the air and move on. And the hotel thing I've heard conflicting stories incl. they accosted him not the reverse. People, as usual, are being way too quick to judge and moralise over a throwaway word in the heat of battle. Play on.

Much like a few of our other contributors (spelt with an 'o' not an 'e') on here, thank you for speaking on behalf of the entire Roosters fan base as the moral compass of what is right and wrong . We didn't ask for a moral representative but we are empty headed so didn't know we needed one.

Nah, she only called a cop a white cu&t.

Funny how the Australian Soccer Federation has come out and promised to back her 100%.

Our NRL has had a dump on Spencer already.

You honestly believe if he went to the broncos shed after the game it would have been brushed under the carpet???

It may have taken some of the heat out though.
