I'm glad we said 'something'. The silence was becoming deafening.

Great first impression for his new club and supporters and confirms the fears some of us had about his discipline and potential to do dumb shit that hurts the team.

Smart decision from the club. The truth will set you free.

Very smart. Apologise and move on.

Marcelo Montoya was suspended for 4 matches for a homophobic slur so not sure if Leniu will cop the same or more - I would say between 4 to 12 weeks and a $20,000 fine as a minimum

Other cases were players were charged and pled guilty in Racial slur cases
              • Bryan Fletcher was suspended for 1 game and fined $10,000 in 2005 and was also required to help Dean Widders with his work in the Aboriginal community
              • Paul Gallon was fined $10,000 in 2009.

mate they are going to rat**** him for 12 weeks based off the truth.

admitting guilt in a case where your accuser has limited evidence is never a smart move

Only 4 days after the game. This statement may help reduce the sentence but with the trial by media I can't see him getting less than 6 weeks.

This is exactly what I thought and hoped the club would do.

Assume the club will bring out that list to try and guide the fine/suspension, with some community work/visits etc

You can be sure the NRL won't miss in terms of suspension length..

I can also feel their relief. This could've gotten awkward had he plead not guilty because it would've turned into he said/she said with no hard evidence.

I feel 4 -6 weeks is adequate but given he is no longer in a Riff jersey and now in our colours he will be copping 8+. Hopefully the NRL don't get too absurd.

Me too. It did drag a bit though. Wish they had front footed it better.

Maybe this will knock him off his haughty perch. Though I have my doubts.

We need to be more clever with our hiring. Distractions like this have always cost us on the ladder. We don’t pay these guys to sit on the sideline. He’s no good to us and the potential of worse is clearly in him. They can tear up his contract as far as I’m concerned. Very disappointed just when we had one of our best starts in years.
