Finally get a good start to the season. Strong win against quality opposition in a big Occassion. The joy was short lived with this circus unfolding. He should get no more than 4 weeks and an education program. But of course it will be a total over reaction, just like Mitchell Pearce and the dog BS.

When reading the statement I noticed that Spencer said:

"I've put my hand up and want to take ownership of this.

No surprises with this comment but I wonder if his intent to not be racist will come into consideration when the punishment is handed out.

I think Spencer will receive a 8 week suspension and 50k fine plus compulsory participation is some sort of cultural awareness program as a minimum.

The Roosters play the Broncos again in Round 9, and despite people saying it will be a very marketable game if Spencer plays, I don't think the NRL would want any fallout from that game becoming headline stories.

Back when he was a cricketer as opposed to a criminal, Imran Khan made an interesting observation about racist abuse. Something along the lines of 'if another player called me a stupid brown @*^!, I’d be more annoyed about the first and third descriptors as opposed to the second, given that I do have brown skin'.
