  • Hate how the media are so dumb about Jared before his 300th

If I hear another pea brained idiot journalist who has nothing smarter to ask than about how he "treads a fine line", and carry on about his judiciary record, I'll farkin vomit. If only we had proper sports journalists and a proper sports media in this country. It's so embarrassing that this is all we have, like so many other embarrassing things this country now is.

Apparently Jared is the oldest player playing in NRL this season, beating Cherry Evans by about a month.

His ability, and most importantly his contribution, as a prop forward over 16 seasons in the NRL, is unmatched and will never be repeated. You don't play 300 NRL games in the front row just by being a thug. You play 20.

Jared at his best, and maybe people can argue he's coming to the end now and with respect he is, of course he is as the oldest player in the comp. But at his best, if you were building the perfect prototype robot version of an NRL prop, you'd build Jared. His feet are amazing in defense the amount of one on one tackles he makes on other forwards look so easy and go unnoticed. Ultra fast play the balls. Superb marker defense. His motor is beyond enormous. I've really never even seen him look that tired. He's very smart positional wise, and he even has great hands, you see him in forward shifting ball plays and he moves and passes and he can run the lines. Hope they show that flick pass back inside to Joey Manu at some point from a few years ago. And maybe even above all that, imagine the influence Jared as had on our young forwards coming through over the years??

Shane Webcke and/or Glenn Lazarus better than Jared?? They just weren't. It's as simple as that. If Payne Haas keeps going for another 9 seasons at his current level he might go close to Jared.

He's a once in a generation freak of player across the park, and it's shameful how boring as batshit the media are in focusing only on the parts they do.

Congrats and thank you to Jared for the unbelievable contribution to the Roosters.

What’s embarrassing is the lack of focus that the media have given JWH’s achievement as opposed to the pages of crap about Souths team selections.

I think they got the top 3 modern props correct
Webcke 254 games, 21 origins, 26 tests and 4 premierships (3 if you exclude Super League)
Lazarus 254 games 19 origins 21 tests and 5 premierships
I take pride in Jazz being equal to those 2. Forget The rest.

Here’s a better story for you. It won’t let me paste the text for some reason.

I think the biggest disadvantage is he plays for NZ, origin is where a lot of the recognition is given unfortunately. Jared would be hailed a superstar if he was a QLD front rower.

Such a better article your one Waylander, but I can't paste it either. Pretty sure Adelaide Now is a News Corp news site in SA. How funny they get the good NRL content, and in NSW we get the gossipy nonsense. As if anyone in Adelaide even follows the NRL. Quite strange, News Corp wouldn't even realize.

Petero Civoniceva was better than both Webcke and Lazarus

People in the media that Ive heard fully rate JWH.
Not everyone is going to blow his trumpet but like I said people in the know rate him.
He's the best prop the Roosters have ever had, yes I know plenty rate Artie higher but I dont.

Annoys me when opposition fans who don’t watch him play or hear him speak in the media say he’s just a thug who plays dirty. There’s a huge difference between a cheap shot merchant, and a genuine enforcer who protects his team like a mother bear and goes after the biggest bloke on the field each week.

also pretty sure Jared has averaged less than a week suspension per charge over his career…says a lot about the crap calls and bias he’s copped from refs over the years

I wouldn't swap him for anyone else.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

From a bias Roosters perspective, JWH is this generation's Artie !

PS: He would've been quite possibly playing his 400th game tonight if he was suspended for 130 games and missed out due to injuries etc.

Me neither. Do we dare to use the "I" word regarding Jared? I'm not sure what more a prop forward could do.

Lindsay: "Jared's one of the main reasons I came to this club. We're pretty fortunate, we don't have to look too far to see the pinnacle of a front rower"
