If I hear another pea brained idiot journalist who has nothing smarter to ask than about how he "treads a fine line", and carry on about his judiciary record, I'll farkin vomit. If only we had proper sports journalists and a proper sports media in this country. It's so embarrassing that this is all we have, like so many other embarrassing things this country now is.
Apparently Jared is the oldest player playing in NRL this season, beating Cherry Evans by about a month.
His ability, and most importantly his contribution, as a prop forward over 16 seasons in the NRL, is unmatched and will never be repeated. You don't play 300 NRL games in the front row just by being a thug. You play 20.
Jared at his best, and maybe people can argue he's coming to the end now and with respect he is, of course he is as the oldest player in the comp. But at his best, if you were building the perfect prototype robot version of an NRL prop, you'd build Jared. His feet are amazing in defense the amount of one on one tackles he makes on other forwards look so easy and go unnoticed. Ultra fast play the balls. Superb marker defense. His motor is beyond enormous. I've really never even seen him look that tired. He's very smart positional wise, and he even has great hands, you see him in forward shifting ball plays and he moves and passes and he can run the lines. Hope they show that flick pass back inside to Joey Manu at some point from a few years ago. And maybe even above all that, imagine the influence Jared as had on our young forwards coming through over the years??
Shane Webcke and/or Glenn Lazarus better than Jared?? They just weren't. It's as simple as that. If Payne Haas keeps going for another 9 seasons at his current level he might go close to Jared.
He's a once in a generation freak of player across the park, and it's shameful how boring as batshit the media are in focusing only on the parts they do.
Congrats and thank you to Jared for the unbelievable contribution to the Roosters.
