  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Souths

    It’s the one we’ve been waiting for…

Tonight is all about Big Jarred. He’s done so much for our club. It’s been a privilege to have him represent us. He puts fear in opposition teams and never takes a backward step to anyone. If ever we should be getting up for anyone, it’s tonight! Our boys should be absolutely pumped to put on their very best performance for Jarred. There is no way we are going down on JWH’s big night.

Tonight we get the opportunity to thank and honour him.

Let’s put another nail in South Sydney’s coffin and LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE!

    GO ROOSTERS!

You never miss a drum beat Thirteen.

JWH is the Roosters he has thrown self preservation out the door countless times for us, so many memorable games too many to pick one or two out but that first 20mins in a final against the filth stands out where he freight trained the entire Souffs team.

Can’t wait for this one biggest game of the regular season let’s go Boys.

    GO EASTS!!!

      Massive day coming for jwh
its his day and deserves nothing but a win
beating souths is huge especially with Penrith coming up next week we need the win!
excited to see Watson back for first time since 2022 to bring some energy off the bench! Our forwards need to own this one and but our backline must stand up today!
hopefully big games from Manu and young on the right side!
hopefully Gus gets back to his best in his 100th game for the chooks

Very curious in how Sam and San will go together in the halves. A win this week against souffs on JWH’s 300th game will be one to remember.

Hope JWH goes hard without getting himself a stint on the sideline being a milestone game and all. Excited for Sandon/Walker - think the former offers a lot more right now than Keary can @ 5/8th. Gus and Watson dominated in cup last week so hopefully that form translates.

A good win sets us up nicely for Penrith next week.

                Brandon Smith to be M.O.M.

Souths are like Manly - just crap.

I’m confident we will win this one. We’re just better than they are right across the park, especially fullback! Robbo has shown that he’s prepared to drop players after one average game and promote those playing really well in reserves; it’s this competition for spots that will ensure lazy performances like last week are rare this year.

The Chookpen asking for us to all stand and applaud at the 8th minute in honour of the big dog. I like it. They do stuff like this in the NBA,Soccer etc

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the significance of the 8th minute?
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

A great opportunity to send the arch enemy to an early season crisis meeting, emerging with Big Ears having the "full support of the bored".

Multicultural round as well...time to celebrate all cultures not just Indigenous and Polynesian. 63 countries represented in the NRL based on cultural backgrounds apparently. The great game was born of our colonial ancestors and still going strong.

We will win this provided we keep the emotions in check, and the whistle doesn't dominate. Its a fine line to resist the baiting and still be physically dominant. Thats our challenge tonight. Just playing footy, we could win well.

We miss Kez obviously. Thankfully we are near full strength elsewhere. Confident Sandon will do a job. We need young Sam to grab the reins tonight. He copped a knock in the Manly game and went MIA. Hopefully he's fit and firing tonight.

Here's to JWHs personal milestone, monumental effort. Cheering him on to be leading that team song in the sheds later tonight.

D'oh! Of course - thank you.

I'm still stuck in the 11/12/13 days.
