I don't have a medical background.... but how the heck does a man in the bunker know the severity of a HIA unless they are physically present to assess the player medically.

I was only a kid during the 90s when Langer played, but from what I can remember, I think the comparisons between Alfie and Sammy Walker are justified. Especially his short kicking game. Hopefully, Sammy lives up to expectations.

Sandon Smith looked great, even more so Sammy Walker . His game has gone to another level

Great news with walker of true, otherwise Keary direct replacement next week
it does raise the question though s smith played well so maybe Keary under pressure? I don’t think it will be this week but if Keary pulls another performance like manly you never know
also of Keary and walker are both back who wins the 14 jersey with s smith or Watson? Maybe a smith but I bellieve Watson is a better suit to the 14 jersey

So Keary is done after 3 rds?

Done for a few weeks or the rest of the year?

So the Roosters re-signed him for another 2ys recently (i think?) to now play reserve grade.

Just my opinion but Keary may not be done but he is far from the player he was,
He has not been able to form an effective partnership with Walker over the last few seasons and his lack of composure in attack in his erratic at times passing game has cost the side.

Keary has to learn that he isn't the chief play maker in the side and that he needs to be more selective in his involvement, He hasn't been able to do this this far.

The Smith /Walker combination already looks better than the Keary/Walker one.

Yeah we had a mad game without him but let's not get ahead of ourselves in regards to where Sandon's at.

The game was won all over the park and we doubled our points without Walker on the field (noting Walker scored two ridiculous, individual tries).

IMO comparing last week to this week really isn't all that useful. Last week Keary got heavily targeted by Olakau'atu... we really think that Sandon woulda survived a trial by fire with Olakau'atu and Paseka being directed to run straight at a young 5/8?

We were 3 tries a piece last week and I'd argue that Keary did a very good job of reducing the damage.

Re Walker... he played a lot better this week because Latrell constantly leaves his team without a last line of defence. Walker and Teddy both took advantage of this and so did Dom Young with his constant kicks behind AJ, Wighton and 'Trell. It's a different story when you put Tommy Trbo back there. And Manly's not THAT good! We'll have tougher opponents throughout the year (including next week)...

Sandon's definitely got a future. However, IMO those who are saying Keary's past it are wrong. He did fiiine against Brissy and was the right choice last week. Nothing woulda been gained by letting Paseka and Olakau'atu bash up Sandon (also I dare say Manly woulda scored a heap of extra tries if we let them do that... or alternatively played him with our forwards having to protect him).

Keary 14 ? But that would mean Conner misses out and he's looking good based on last nights performance. Lots of competition for spots in our team this year. I hope Robbo keeps an open mind to selections and just doesn't go with the easy selections because of history.

Sandon was good but don't write off Keary.

Always good to have depth, i would love a bigger body 5/8 though. Teams manage to make metres against by doing a quick shift and running at one of our halves. One you can cop but having weaknesses on either side hurts.

Sammy's was very obvious a neck injury. Terrible call, we are just very fortunate the game was in the bag.

As others have mentioned it sounds like we will fight it so he can play this week. Just from how Robbo & Teddy spoke of Kez I'd be surprised if he wasn't selected too.

No ones saying he is done but he had a really bad performance last week. They are more saying if he can’t get back into form after a while his place may be under pressure as should anyone’s, no one is guaranteed a spot!
sandon smith and walker played well so it’s up to Keary to get back to form!
He re signed for 1 year not sure if it was a reduced deal or not

The thread creator says Keary is done.

Where would he put Keary now.
Keary is on much bigger money than Smith.

Manly & Brisbane also put a score on a struggling Souths team. The whole team was poor against Manly not just Keary.

Let's see how we go against a clinical Penrith next week before making statements that are premature after 3 rds.

assuming as seems likely that keary and walker are fit they'll be 6 and 7 and i'm happy with that - keary was great in round 1. no doubt smith stepped up when walker went off and looks a prospect. with injuries to our forwards there might be a spot for both smith and watson on the bench v penrith

I think he is done. His cross field running ruins us. We looked like a different team tonight with the ball. Walker needs to run the show, not Keary

Impossible to fault Walker and Smith last night and the sparks continued when Watson came on. We saw them take an obviously useless Souffs team apart, so I'd like to see them go up against the more clinical Pemriff team (assuming Walker is allowed to play).

Only then can we gauge whether or not an ageing, panicky Keary should line up again with Walker.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Keary if fit - is always our 6.

I agree, his cross field running is ineffectual, I hate it. I hate side ways running by anyone.

So keen to beat the Pamfers. It has been way too long.

                                GO ROOSTERS.
