    ROOSTERS SQUAD v PENRITH

    Rnd 4 - Thursday 28th March, 8:00pm
    ALLIANZ Stadium, SYDNEY

The ultimate challenge for us this week, the reigning 3-peaters ... well it would be if we were both at full strength. Neither of us are, but it should still be a hell of a game.

We were very, very good against the Vermin, and they were putrid. Both of those factors contributed to the result. How much can we read into that? We find out this week.

No Lindsay this week, and no Sandon. May therefore gets a start, with Egan coming onto the bench.

Penrith will be missing Cleary & JFH, which appears to have made us favourites with the bookies. That evens the ledger somewhat, and we have the benefit of Allianz, where IIRC we have now won 8 out of 11.

    It should be a cracker.

    GO EASTS !!

Egan before Wong is a surprise. With Angus and Whyte also being able to play in the middle I’d have thought Wong would have been on the bench. Was he that much of a liability against Manly?

Jennings 18......again. Really ?? I believe it should be Pauga.

Come on coach - give Wong the bench spot instead of E Butcher.

Fingers crossed we finally beat this team.

When was the last time we beat them ??

Riff missing Cleary, JFH still out and Sorensen
chooks missing Leniu, Collins, sandon smith while Billy smith also out
got to feel sorry for Billy had the left centre spot all summer. Got injured training in Las Vegas, missed two matches and had to come back through res grade to get injured again

In res grade Egan made 150mtr odd compared to 90 from Wong so maybe this had something to do with it? Egan may have outperformed Wong in res grade last week!
I would prefer Wong but the competition for spots is on

            Yeah interesting hey!

Maybe you've answered your own question there though? Crichton can play in the middle. He's also a Kangaroos forward who's come back from a seriously farked up journey with mental health issues/trauma. I watched his interview this week and it's AAAAWESOME hearing him say he feels like his fitness is all back now & destroying Souffs meant a LOT to him.

Dunno about Wong but it raises the point about guys like Walker, Manu, Latrell...etc being dropped (though it hasn't attracted the same attention as we don't view him as being a superstar).

IMO part of Robbo's initiation of youngsters is that he'll give you a nice run in 1st grade, treat you like a king and then dump you HARD, while saying 'now welcome to the real world, NOBODY is guaranteed a spot in my 17!!! I've got no timeframe for your return in mind... enjoy playing park footy'.

Reminds me a little bit of Jackie Chan's book. He wrote about being trained in traditional Chinese opera and having a honeymoon period at the start where he was treated like a king by their coach. Then, the coach just suddenly started beating the shit outta him & setting the bar ridiculously high. Despite him being a little shyte as a kid, it beat a fark load of toughness/discipline into him. Similar tactic... maybe?

Huge boost having Keary back for this one.

We lose some repeat oomph with Lindsay out, probably nullified a bit with Fisher-Harris missing for them.

Those renegade May bros taking each other on might be interesting. Taylans in kamikaze mode, be a smash up if him and Aussie Joe clsshed but they might play on different sides of the field I think.

may might be in some doubt but we've still got a strong team and tbh we might be favourites. with such competition for spots performance in reserves is crucial - sounds like egan showed more than wong

We have all been robbed of an epic battle with both teams having key injuries I expect it to be a tough close game but both teams at full strength would have been epic. Don't underestimate Cleary's absence they did not miss a beat when Cleary was missing late last year it only took a special comeback from the Cowboys to beat them without all their origin players as well as Moses Leota also missing from the team and they won all their games to start the 2022 season without Cleary this is a tough game and I wish we could beat them at full strength but we are long overdue in finally beating them which I expect we will on thursday

Would much prefer Wong on interchange than Egan. Wong far the better player.

Egan has the knack of making errors and swinging momentum back to the opposition. His timing is always impeccable.
