  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Panthers

After we win tonight they will be banging on about missing their halfback. We need to win well to silence these people. Tonight is a great opportunity for us to beat them for the first time in a while. Welcome to our work Panthers, injuries are a bitch.

Let’s continue to play with energy and enthusiasm and attitude. If we do I’m confident we can put a score on them. It seems a long wait since our last game despite it being only six days. I’m hungry for more of what we saw last week. Let’s give it to these smug and arrogant Westies. Bring it on.

    GO ROOSTERS!

2019 was the last time we beat the riff, 8 games
that’s way to long, this is the best chance we have had for a while
the boys need this win so they know they can beat anyone
time to put away the top teams and get back to the roosters form
The centre defence of Manu and suaali will need to be on to contain May and Tago but we need to use the high ball and cross field kicks to our advantage
tip - chooks by 6 in a close one

Quietly confident despite the players missing Freon last week. Time for Walker to take the game by the scruff of the neck and own it.

Love your confidence! IMO it's one of the best chances we've had for a while...

Although we are still missing a few key forwards tonight,it feels like the first time in a while we are playing Penrith with a relatively healthy side!

We haven’t beaten them since 2019 but the media fail to mention that’s when our injury curse started, tonight is time for redemption..

            Go Easts!

It bugs me how the media keep mentioning how Penrith are missing Cleary and JFH but fail we’re missing our two starting props , our. Back up hooker/half and our best centre from last year.

                    Tbf Cleary is best halfback/ player in game. JFH arguably best in his position too. These two outs are far more significant than;

Lenui, Sandon, Billy (assume that’s who you’re referring to). Collins is out big out.

Huge test tonight. Robbo and the coaching staff will have mulled over how to beat the Panthers during the off season many times. They know this year is one we can definitely triumph in, but must figure out a way to stop the 3 time premiers juggernaut.

Don't think you can "out Penrith " them. They are patient and methodical and will grind you down eventually. Need to upset their rhythm with offloads, quick spreads from our own zone, fast play the balls where possible. Don't try to beat them playing percentages and winning stats, they eat that up. Attack from the outset, with and without the ball. Play like Clearys there. Use our height in the backs, but earn the right to play for them. We won't have the space tonight that we got in the first three rounds.

They will relish being outsiders in this match, and prove the bookies wrong.

Should be an absorbing match-up. No crisis if we lose, but want to see us getting them uncomfortable. And walk away knowing we can beat this mob when it counts.

I'm pretty astonished by how short-priced we are with the bookies. I understand a slight favouritism but the Panthers have lost what, on average like three games a year over the past four seasons? Probably something like that.

It'll be a great test for us, and listening to Robbo talk about the game yesterday, it sounds as though they've very focused and aware that they haven't beaten a top tier side for a few years.

I don't remember being this excited for a game in a while, but as long as we compete and are highly competitive, I'm not all that concerned if we don't walk away with the win tonight.

                              Roosters by 8.
