Is there a better way to utilise him?

would he be more effective coming off the bench 15min before halftime? He looks buggered after 10min, goes off at about the 25min and stays off for quite a while, but still looks exhausted when he comes back on.

he averages just over 50min in his 4 games this year, and doesn’t seem to do a mountain of defence (about 28 tackles per game) so doesn’t look like he is being worn out, but I wonder how he would go fresh against some tired bods 15min out from half time?

In short, yes. As I mentioned in another thread just now, I don't think dummy half is his best position. I think a sharp dummy half gets us rolling. Cheese can then come on for Rads, giving him a well deserved break so we don't use him up. We have seen in the past - when he was with Melbourne - that Cheese can create havoc in that role. I'm sure some will agree and some will disagree. But I would like to see Robbo trial it. Not sure Moriarty is ready so maybe it's not a real option for us this year?

I think he’s had a good start to the season and I’ve got more optimism about him as our 9 moving forward than I did lat year or when we signed him.

Dummy half is a really tough position to play in the modern day game, sure they’ll get the odd game here and there where the ruck opens up and they can shine but for the most part it’s about making your tackles, setting the line speed, giving good service and then running when you can.

All of which I think Brandon has done well this year, his defence has been brutal, he sets a good line speed, his service is improved and he runs the ball well out of dummy half.

The expectation around him having an impact every week though needs to be tempered, there’s a reason why we saw a grand final last year of Mitch Kenny Vs Billy Walters - the position just doesn’t have as much impact on the overall team performance as it used to. Rucks are too tight and clubs are too switched on.

he's been great. ideally you'd love him to play the full 80 but not sure if that's possible the way he plays. don't think we have another 9 that can start the game so the current policy of him starting and then finishing the game is probably the best and the more mins we can get out of him the better

I've like what he has done so far. Yeah his tackle count isn't high but he is a high tempo player and it's only round 4. Plus he looks a bit busted which makes fatigue set in quicker. He will be good for us.

He certainly isn’t the workhorse that Jake Friend was that’s a fact… Jake would make his 40 plus tackles a match every match, played far longer minutes..Yes he made the occasional error but in comparison a better player…

I’d like to see him given a bit more kicking responsibilities, especially inside our own 50, he has a decent boot, and we gain nothing from throwing it back to either of our halves.

i would prefer a mid field bomb which is contested, or a kick into touch, than any of those kicks our halves are directing to the fullback or wingers that put us on the back foot straight away.
