  • Our playing style

Robbo at the start of the year suggested we would play a different style this year however I can't really see any change. Same sidways attack with the standard block plays.

For mine he could do well to take a leaf from the great Broncos team of the 90's. Let Sam play what he sees much like Alf did and Keary play that running 5/8th game much like Kevin. Perhaps throw away some of the structure, straighten up the attack and just play footy. I think then we would see the best of Sam

We already have seen the best of Sam. It was two weeks ago when Keary wasn’t in the team.

you need some form of structure to fall back to when things aren't going to plan .

the great raiders and broncs teams of the 90 's would get 60 put on them by the current panfas team .

I was hopefull Holbrook would change things, but I just see more of the same this year.
What structure? Do you mean Keary going for 3rd tackle hero plays in our own half or Tedesco going for the miracle ball in our own half or Manu stepping sideways fifty times or Walker actually thinking he is Alf and looking for highlight reels every time we are close to the line?

For some context after 4 rounds last year we had scored the 2nd least amount of points. After 4 rounds this year we have scored the 2nd most amount of points in the competition.

Our attack has been very slick this year, to score 3 tries against the Sea Eagles and the Panthers with minimal good ball sets has been impressive.

There’s been nothing in the first 4 rounds that’s left me concerned about our attacking style or structure, to the contrary it’s been a refreshing change on last year.

Hutch would have starred verses Souths.

Yeah I think people need to get over the fact that we look a heck of a lot better (to fans) when we win.

Not bagging Sandon or Watson but they were our halves pairing for much of the game and there was no shift in our form when Walker went off the field. Like it or not, Keary and Walker are better halves (and nearly beat Pemriff!!! One converted try is nothing and the Riff aren't exactly known for their 2nd half collapses).

My bad. Let me rephrase. We already have seen the best of Sam. It’s any week that Keary isn’t in the halves with him.

See it’s comments like this where I just refuse to believe you watch games. Walker/Sandon were our halves for 50 minutes and played exceedingly well together - so I don’t know how Sandon/Watson were our halves for “most of the game”. And what does Watson have to do with it? No one is suggesting he’s to be playing halves for us.

If you genuinely think we “nearly beat Penrith”, then I need to have whatever it is that you’re smoking. Our attack was never on until 9 minutes left when the game was dead and buried, against a side missing the best player in the competition. Just like our attack was never on in the Manly game - with the same halves. Just like our attack has never looked like a genuine top contender - with the same halves. It’ll be sooner rather than later that Robinson realises his job is on the line - and Sandon will be the half alongside Sammy if we’re to have any forward progression at all.

Missing the power game of Collins and Leniu was at least as big of a loss for us as Pemriff missing Cleary.

I admire the composure of the rest of you on here, and the willingness to "move on" after the shameful and ridiculous ban of Leniu for a third of the season for saying a bad word. Cowardly by the NRL to pander to the Lynch mob in the media who literally decided what the penalty should be - as that's what they gave them. Including Thurston virtue signalling after what he knows he did in Coffs Harbour. And Hynes, whose mother could well be behind bars if not for the forgiveness of the judicial system - she got someone killed , and can't stop stealing - but he had to prejudice any chance of a fair hearing for one coloured gentleman teasing another coloured gentleman.

Carpet bombing all the games with gambling adverts is obviously far less harmful than saying "monkey ". I'm glad the NRL are able to maintain the moral high ground in such a dignified and convincing manner.

Also telling how much patience and understanding Abdo expressed for Latrell, not even fining him, saying "we all make mistakes with things we say", but showed no understanding to Leniu.

Not since Pearce getting suspended for a harmless off field incident for 10 weeks, plus a 50K fine, have I seen a bigger miscarriage of justice.

Spot on 6. I've heard multiple players in interviews and press conferences already mention the difference Holbrook has made to the attack. The problem with the attack is Keary. Otherwise we do look heaps better in attack. I love Keary he's one my all time favourite players, but he is done. Or I should say, unless he can find a way to run straight again, he's done and he is ruining our attack.

I remember a good example of another great Roosters player who, when he lost the ability to run straight, you new it was over. Craig Wing. In his least season he started taking this weird step to the side as he'd get to the line, instead of putting his body on the line and staying straight. The step to the side made him just not a threat anymore.

                          Well said.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

The two times our attack didn’t look so good this year was when Penrith and Manly succeeded in slowing the ruck right down. We thrive on fast play the balls and getting the defence on the back foot . Slow play the balls are our achilles heel. Penrith gave us absolutely nothing in that regard. We definitely missed Collins a lot.

think the attack would work if keary didnt run sideways/walker is the main man. we saw it last 10 mins vs panthers, keary actually went forward and we looked a million times better.

love him but hes really giving the coaching staff/fans a headache with his performances.
