Roosters Sign USA Sevens Star Liz Tafuna

The Sydney Roosters have today announced the signing of USA Sevens representative Liz Tafuna to the Club’s NRLW squad for the upcoming 2024 season.

21-year-old Tafuna was among the North American athletes selected to compete at the NRL’s Talent Combine in Las Vegas earlier this year. In signing with the Roosters, she is in line to become the first American to play in the NRLW.

'Liz Will Open the Door for More to Come': Roosters Sign First US Player

Sydney Roosters coach John Strange believes the signing of US Rugby 7s star Liz Tafuna is set to open the door for more North American athletes to join the NRLW.

Tafuna, who took part in last month’s NRL talent combine in Las Vegas, is the first player recruited from North America to play in the NRLW and will arrive in Sydney in June to begin training with her new team-mates for the upcoming season.

Imogen Hei a very good Dummy Half and Captain this year of the Tarsha Gale Cup under 19's side re-signed for 2 more years (2024/2025) - not listed in the NRWL squad at this stage though.

Imogen has been working with Friendly this and last year which shows as they are somewhat similar dummy halves in playing styles.

we've got a good side again. joseph is a big out but with players coming back from injury we're arguably stronger. not sure what's going on with pasikala but it would be great if we can keep her

How's this? A couple of weeks ago I was at work watching the manly game and some new french lass said she liked my jersey.

So I've actually been working with her, and it's none other than Perrine Monsarrat.

Lovely girl, gets a run this Saturday up there against the Sunny Coast.

She's a Roosters fan as much as anyone, I haven't seen her play yet, but I do coordinate at the home ground of the footy club she's playing for (Seagulls) so hopefully I can soon.

Lucky you...her Linkedin profile looks like a model! Haven't seen her play either. Robbo was keen to see her get an opportunity with the French connection. Apparently she didn't speak much English when she got here.

He would look good in the number 4 jersey next year.

I watched Perrine play whenever they showed the Central Coast Roosters NSW Women's Premiership games on NSWRL TV last year. Went okay in those games against Teams which had a lot of NRLW players playing.

Was only signed to a 1 year development contract for 2023 and currently playing for Tweed Seagulls in the QLD BMD Premiership. - 2 games - 1 at centre and 1 at prop

Not sure if she will be signed to an NRLW Contract by the Roosters or not or by another NRLW team - The Roosters have 2 spots to fill and 3 development spots.

Central Coast Roosters in the NSW Women's Premiership would be an option to continue her Rugby League Development if not signed as from now on it will be played along side the NRLW as a reserve grade/feeder club comp

Surely the Roosters can find a spot for Ally Bullman -2 time Tarsha Gale winner(2022/23) and captain in 2023 with the Roosters- NSW City , NSW Under 19 rep and Australian School Girls rep

good to see multi year contracts coming into the game. don't know how they handle pregnancies - the nrl should provide salary cap relief if women get pregnant. get pregnant at the wrong time and they could miss 2 seasons
