    Interesting article !

Similar note, I found it funny that people and journos were praising Penrith beating us last week saying we were at full strength when obviously we were missing: Lindsay Collins, Spencer, Sandon (our preferred utility) and played them after a short turnaround with Keary coming off a head knock. Add to that when the full time whistle was blown, Penrith had a dodgy try awarded which was a mistake, we had a try disallowed which was also a mistake and the final score (irrespective of who the better team was on the night) was only a converted try in difference !

Yes, Penrith were missing key players as well but so were we and the point is we were no where near full strength ! They are still the team to beat again this season ... but the Roosters starting slow, clunky and still trying to find a playing style is unfortunately still an issue ... give us a few more rounds + Spencer back and I'm sure we'll be more of a threat in the comp.

So damaging with the injuries we have had rotten luck
from cordner and friend retiring early to season injuries, head knocks and suspensions
2020 - rads and verills did their acls in the same game - rads was the best forward in the comp to start the year
2021 - we finished 5th and went into the semi final with 5 of our top 17 available
season injured to Collins and brett morris with 10 to go big knigjts we were down to 11 men and still scored 2 tries! Keary acl was big and also Manu broken cheekbone will always be remembered
seems in 2022 and 2023 more smaller to medium length injured and suspensions
rads had a bad run from 2021 and 2023 with injuries and suspensions
we still have 3 out now of our top 17 and will be Lucky to be at full strength - if we are close at the right time of year watch out

2021 was obviously crazy but i hadn't realised last year was that bad. hard to win comps with so many injuries. club's done well not to drop the ball and still make the finals

Panthers haven’t been entirely blessed by the football gods … they lost their star 6 in the GF … could easily have laid down faced with a big deficit … but still came back from the dead … they also just smacked us without their talisman

The Sydney Roosters have been unable to field their best side for nearly five years, prompting coach Trent Robinson to describe his club’s astonishing injury and suspension sequence as “wild.”

They won’t seek reasons for not having won a grand final over the past four years but here’s a doozy of an excuse.

Fox Sports Lab has revealed the last time Sydney Roosters actually played with a full strength side was the 2019 grand final.

Over the next four seasons and four rounds, the Roosters have been without top-line players for 466 games through injury and suspension.

Despite this, the Roosters have finished in week two of the finals three times and week one once during that time.

Who knows whether Penrith would have experienced such grand final dominance had the Roosters been at full tilt?

And the Roosters won’t be back to their best until at least round ten, when prop Spencer Leniu return from suspension.

Fox Sports Lab compiled the best players from each season before revealing the number of games each has missed.

No other club in the NRL has endured such a horrific long-term injury run.

Robinson was stunned when told, saying: “Look, I didn’t know that but that’s what it’s felt like at different times.

“It’s been wild at different times, the guys that have been in and out over the last few years. We have twice had two ACL’s in the one game. We’ve had punctured lungs, concussions. We’ve had suspensions.

“I have felt really proud with how the guys have adapted, a lot of the time.

“It would be nice to get a run where we get 1 to 17 week on week and we’d like to keep players on the field more.

“We want to get our team on the field and perform better than what we’ve done in the last few years. We’ve had our reasons and it felt like we could have been better.

“We think if we can get our best players on the field then we can play well this year.”

Aside from Leniu, Roosters prop Lindsay Collins has a hamstring injury and remains in doubt for a game against Canterbury this Friday night at Accor Stadium.

Robinson said injuries weren’t always about “bad luck.”

“Whether it’s been through injury or suspension, we’ve got a role to play in that,” he said

“I don’t think they are just accidents, I don’t think all injuries are just by chance. The way that you prepare players, the way they prepare themselves, if you just say it’s not our fault then you can’t do anything about it.

“Whereas I feel you’ve got to take some responsibility and try to improve the way you’re doing things.

“We all know some things do happen and we can’t control them but if you just say you can’t control any of them then you’re not going to improve the way that you train or prepare.”

Interesting post … we were snakebit a couple of years ago with Cordner and Friend … but not all injuries are created the same … for instance … you can subtract Verrills numbers … he can’t even start for the Titans these days … Lodge was released last year … no one here rates Sitili … some bloke just rated Collins the 12th best front rower in the NRL … and so on and so forth

I posted such stats before to counter the misconception that the Roosters had the best squad - hard to say that when you see how many games players are missing which really tests your depth.

Coach Robinson and staff have done a great job to get the Roosters into a position to make the finals these past 4 years
              Lol

You destroyed your own argument before you’d barely begun

Hutch was nothing but a hindrance on this football side … courtesy of Robbo … him being injured or dropped was always a bonus for us … that’s cruel to say I know … but it’s the simple truth

Brilliant - lol. Appreciate the sarcasm. As soon as that paddle pop lion went off the Panthers clicked into gear.

I'd even take King Salvos love child at five eighth before Luia.

"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

Definitely an improvement on 2022 when he blamed the players for not beating Souths despite fielding a reserve grade backline the entire second half
