  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Bulldogs

The only thing that will beat us tonight is complacency. We cannot take 'The Family Club' lightly. This is a vital 2 points and 2 points that need to be banked at this early stage of the season.

A wet and miserable ground where we will be miles away from the action but I can't wait! Hoping for a great performance to make this night memorable.

We really should put on a score against this mob. Let's not use the bad weather as an excuse.

    GO ROOSTERS!

Always positive but two things stick in my mind. The Tigers win in the wet last year over Penrith and the one point win at Gosford v The Dogs last year. Maybe that was Gosford not being kind to us.

    Go Roosters.

The Bulldogs are averaging 17.8 points conceded per game in 2024.

This is statistically the 4th best record in the NRL this season after the Panthers, Roosters & Warriors.

Their defence is much improved this year, there is more resilience in their goal line defence and they are conceding less metres in yardage.

A win is a must but this is more than a bit of rain on a field with good drainage. This is torrential rain on a field that does not have great drainage. It's going to be a bit of a slog no matter which way you slice it.

Dogs will be a lot tougher than expected. They defend well they just can't score points.

JAC and Jacob Preston out. Whereas we get Collins back and Gus is now back to starting form (Robbo said the others trialled better but Gus is now playing better... that's just how it's worked out).

INI without JAC and Preston, the Doggies will be hoping that the rain mucks up our game as we SHOULD do a job on them. I'll be disappointed if we don't.

This will not be an easy game in this weather. What’s the bet Hutch has a top game. Go the Chooks.

Not an easy game Nonetheless a game I think we should win if we are genuine end of season contenders

I've seen glimpses of good footy from the dogs. We can't give them a sniff and invite them into the contest. Back 5 need to work hard on their kick returns so our middle third can dominate the ruck.

                    Up the Chooks.

The wet weather will definitely even things up a lot. Closer game now for sure and possession/ ball security will be very telling.

on a dry track I think we put 30 on them but realistically I think it will be close. Our speed out wide won’t count for much on a bog ground.

If we win by 6 I’m sure some on here will be after Robbo’s head on a stick. lol. So let’s let’s support our team and les support Robbo too

                        I'm worried already.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

High set completions and low errors will be vital, as will the kicking game. The Dogs have more yardage in their kicking game( Hutchinator and Burton) than the Roosters (Walker and Keary), so one assumes that in wet weather they will kick early and often to pin the Roosters on their try line and make them ruck it out and force errors with numbers in D.

Brandon Smith will need to kick from the dummy half.

The Dogs will be up for this one, so one hopes the Roosters will be too.

I watched the berries play last week..................................they are hopeless, they can't even beat the vermin.
We should win easily, if not it's white flag time already.
