  • What's worse?

    1) A knee to the back of the head that sees our playmaker removed from the match and likely to miss a week and the opposition ballrunner not receiving any form of penalty?

    OR

    2) A towering winger flying in to make a tackle on a much shorter guy and getting sent off for above-the-shoulder contact thus leaving his team short a man for about 55 minutes?

In scenario 1 it is arguable that the ballrunner could easily have adjusted his direction, or step, and completely avoided a collision to the back of the head. It is equally arguable that in scenario 2, the tackler had less time to react and make any adjustments to avoid head contact.

Sadly for us, both scenarios resulted in the absolute worst possible outcome for Easts.

It also highlights an agenda of persecution that the NRL and the referees have against our team.

I thought that leaping over a player was illegal as it put a player in a dangerous position in relation to possibility of head injury. I remember the Fijian Melbourne winger being penalised for it in a game against us few years ago.

As for the Dom Young tackle, they’ve already said that if you’re going to blindside a player then the duty of care is on you. Bad technique from Young IMO and deserves what he got.

The knee to Walker was accidental. It’s a violent game. Accidents happen.

      Move on.

After rewatching Dom's tackle this morning I feel he is lucky to only cop 2 weeks, he came flying out of the line and got him across the chin.
I understand he is a tall bloke tackling a short bloke but you need to adjust so you get him lower, it was more careless then anything else but still looked bad.

You can't bloody win can you....Dom was looking for the hard hit around the chest like you have to if you are going to come in and hit the inside man. Have to stop the ball in those situations. We've all been a bit critical of Aussie Joe getting those reads wrong, and getting caught out.

Dom's was a send off in any era of the game and probably deserved more than 2 weeks like you say. Also like others have said, the injury to Walker was simply an.accident.

The biggest atrocity last night was once again our team not being switched on from the kick off. The 'comeback' hopefully doesn't smother the severe deficiencies in our squad

I thought every injury to an opponents head in a tackle warranted more scrutiny. If Walker was HIA'd from a front on shoulder tackle, he'd probably have received a penalty.

I've now seen Fatrell put on report twice inside 40 minutes, but somehow he's allowed to stay on the field.
