  • Where's Robbo's must win game?

There's unofficial news from Souths that they've given Demetriou a must win game next week.

Seems quite remarkable after only 5 rds & they only sit one less win than us but unlike us they dont except mediocre rubbish & are prepared to make hard tough calls.

So the question is...when does Robbo get given his ultimatum to lift our standards & turn us into a serious team again?

That 1st half v the Dogs was deplorable & the previous week v Panthers piss poor also. This team is badly underachieving & I'm sick of watching this hot/cold crap from a roster like ours.

I'm sick of this warm fuzzy yesterday's hero crap with Robbo from some people. This is now & its looking like a carbon copy of the last 3-4yrs.

He doesn't donate his time to coaching this proud club....he gets paid a huge amount of money for us to dish out mediocre rubbish & his only response in recent time was to drop Sammy Walker.

The haters of this thread can get stuffed along with Robbo if he can't turn us into the club we deserve to be....

My first ever big rant...come at me mediocre underperforming Robbo fan boys.

Probably RD 27, like last year, the noise goes away when you make the 8, and people call it a successful season when you play finals.

realistically, if you want to make the top 4, the must win game comes down to this week, because the run we have after the knights(a), is

    storm(h),dragons(h),broncos(a),warriors,(h),sharks (a)raiders(a)

      Haha
im not sure but I’d say there will be media noise end of this season or mid next season if things don’t change. I’m not sure finals football will stop the noise. I’d say anything less than prelim will bring it given a team can lose the majority of games and still make the 8. Depends on the expectations of the board and how the players manage playing ordinary footy for majority of a season

Well said Eggspert.... I remember how ruthless we were with Ricky after he won us a comp in 2002, Grand final appearances in 2003 and 2004, then a disappointing 2005.. He was shown the door quickly. Cant work out why Nick is not being as clinical with this coach who has been very disappointing the last 4 years??????? Maybe we have now become an over politically correct Club who accept mediocracy and that it is OK not to win.

          For some context.

Deleteriou has won 4 out of his last 15 games. In those 15 games they have conceded 27 points per game on average, this is the worst defensive record over that period of time.

With loses to the Roosters x2, Broncos x2, Dragons x1, Cowboys x1, Bulldogs x1, Broncos x1, Sharks x1, Knights x1, Sea Eagles x1, Warriors x1. Some games in there they should have really won.

Robinson has won 9 out of his last 15 games. On average they have conceded 17.4 points per game which is the 3rd best record over that period of time.

With losses to Melbourne x2, Brisbane x1, Penrith x1, Manly x1 & Bulldogs x1. Of which you would say only the Bulldogs loss is really unacceptable.

Robinson's issue at the moment is getting his team to compete against the top 4 teams in the comp, Demetriou's issue is getting his team to show up. I put the defensive stats in there because defence is generally all about attitude and a good reflection of buy in from the team IMO.

I think you're drawing a long bow to compare the two and to reduce it to wins this year paints a false narrative. Both have squads that should be making the finals and pushing for top 4.

I'll admit I had a few while celebrating a mates birthday & writing this afterwards & now feel worse for wear getting up for work.................

But i still stand by every word...unlike Robbo I have to go in & perform my role satisfactorily to please my boss & justify my pay packet.

Or do I tell him get stuffed I gave you some good years a while back & can't be questioned & my current performances are good enough.

The way the club treated Graham Murray & Ricky Stuart was harsh....Robbo's been here too long & the message got old a while back.

Don't expect GF wins every year of course but do expect a well coached team who are consistent with there performance.

Evolve Robbo, excuse time is over for you. Payten has reinvigorated the Cowboys, Webster with the Warriors, Bennett with Dolphins from scratch......the Roosters top job isn't a comfy sofa where you can put your feet up & coast along.

Demetriou in recent years had got them to the Preliminary Final 4yrs in a row I think. Or was that Bennett mainly?

Either way thats something Robbo hasn't done for a while.

We have a better squad than them.

They are giving him much less slack than Robbo.

We scrape into the top 8 needing to win 8-10 in a row last couple of years because of our crap starts & losing to teams we should beat.

Robbo needs more media spotlight than Demetriou.

We have come to expect mediocre performances now
it just feels like robbo has not revolved the game at all, and feels like he is just being Mr nice guy all the time
time to come down hard on players not performing including the senior guys
Keary blasted everyone after the game but he has been bad so far this year
we have a roster which the league is jealous of and are up there for the top 2-3 favs each year from players and fans who don’t like us so either we are terribly overated or underperforming

                that loss was complete unacceptable
we are now sitting 2 from 5 and potentially 2 from 6 coming not he storm after this week
it’s allready looking like we are going to need a big winning run to get a chance to make the top 4
The last two season only just got pass marks from a huge run end of season which saved the chooks and robbo from being really under pressure
suaali at left centre again ffs I know he wouldn’t be in the backline if smith was fit but still robbo just keeps doing the same thing every week with things clearly not working and we are really suffering for it

Whatever you, or me, or anyone on this unofficial Roosters website likes it or not, Trent Robinson will be the Roosters first grade coach as long as he wants to be and as long as Nick remains chairman.

By all means everyone can have their say on here, but it's just a echo chamber- it changes nothing.

Are you a member of the leagues club? You can go to the next AGM and voice your concerns directly to Nick.

Incidentally, Souths have won 1 premiership in 52 years and since they were readmitted to the comp in 2002 have had 10 different coaches. If you believe they "don't accept mediocre," playing musical chairs with their coaches hasn't yielded much success!!

Fair enough....but people who say the line "Robbo will decide when he steps down or has the job as long as he wants it" are kidding themselves.

All bow down to Robbo Kim Jong Un or President Robbo Xie Jingping....lol

Souths are a basket case. Don’t compare us to them, that’s laughable. They are in a big hole with no easy way out. Sacking the coach won’t fix their problems but they will probably do it anyway.

Yes we should be doing better and losing to the dogs is not ideal but we are worlds away from the mess they are in. Get a grip.

I can see us playing some good consistent footy when things eventually click into place. Hopefully it won't be too late in the season.

We may have won only 1 more game than Souths this season but you can't compare us to them, since mid last season they have gone from top of the table to last.

I don't think Robbo is here is as long as he wants to be as the majority say, if his record starts to resemble Demetriou and we are a bottom 4 team I think Nick will tap him on the shoulder.
Robbo will still get us into the top 8 this year and if we do miss out which I don't expect we won't finish lower than 10th.

He is one of the better coaches in the NRL, if we had to replace him who do you bring in.
Bennett would be short term and when he leaves a club they all seem to fall into a hole, we don't want that here.
Bellarmy has been at Melbourne forever and can't see him going elsewhere to start again plus he is winding down to retire.
Hasler from 10 years ago maybe but he has lost his way, can't see him lasting at the Titans
Cleary won't leave Penrith, they would pay him whatever he wants if he gets a serious offer elsewhere.
