  • Jennings not honoured for 300th game

Once again trial by media has resulted in Jennings not being honoured this Thursday.

Surely what happens on the field is separate to what happens off it . You don’t need to like the guy but he should be shown the respect he deserves for reaching the milestone

Doesn't the club put up the banner and let him lead the team out or will we be concerned about the backlash from Buzz?

Interested to hear what the ladies in the chookpen feel.

Oh well. It’s their right to do so. They are correct in saying that it doesn’t look good for them to honour Jennings. In saying that I doubt the Roosters or Jennings will be losing sleep over the NRL’s decision.

Place the domestic violence to the side for a minute, if he’s of moral character to have his contract registered, then hasn’t the NRL accepted him for past deeds? This feels like a very knee jerk response as it always does when social issues enter the domain. NRL would send a stronger message by finding their own identity and being clear on what the game holds important and holding to it, instead of back flipping when the court of public opinion says to.

But 'we' 'NRL' still celebrate a flog like Greg Inglis lol !!!
a bum that was done for drink driving when Captain of his country ....a bum that had to attend a court ordered behavioural change program after shoving his ex. Fark the NRL and the weak ass Roosters if they dont celebrate his 300th in an appropriate way !!! Like others state, why did they let him register again ?? Obviously they thought he was never going to see firsts again

I’m more concerned about the 2 points.

I have to admit the DV charge has made me feel very uncomfortable about having him back at the club. I recognise what he did for us in 2013 and that winning GF try. I’m ok with him having served his time for the drugs charges and all. But the DV charges are another thing and it does bother me. It’s not something I’ve brought up previously because there’s only a few of us ladies that post on here and I felt I would be outnumbered. As for the NRL refusing to honour his 300th, really they can’t have it both ways. He should not have had his contract re-registered at all then surely. They made the decision to let him play (which I don’t necessarily agree with), so why back down on this issue.

Its crazy to accept him as part of the NRL and not treat him equally to the rest of the competition. Discrimination at it's finest.

I was surprised his contract was registered, but as it was, the 300th game should be acknowledged.

I hope the club does something for him at the game if it happens

The NRL are digging a hole for themselves here, does every 300 gamer now need to go through a code of conduct check.

How many breaches does it take not to be recognised by the NRL?
