  • Pilot Medical Update: Round 5 - More Injuries -Tyler Moriarty and Salesi Foketi

The Sydney Roosters squad has been assessed following the Club’s Round 5 match against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

Sam Walker was taken from the field for a Head Injury Assessment (HIA) in the 18th minute of the match. After being deemed a Category 1 HIA, he will undergo the NRL’s mandatory 11-day concussion stand-down.

James Tedesco was taken from the field for a HIA in the 23rd minute of the match. After being deemed a Category 1 HIA, he will undergo the NRL’s mandatory 11-day concussion stand-down.

Following the Round 5 NSW Cup match against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Tyler Moriarty suffered a fractured hand, while Salesi Foketi suffered a significant MCL injury.

Both players will visit surgeons in the coming days to assess the best treatment plan, with a return to play to be confirmed at a later date.

There were no other injury concerns for the other players that featured in the match.

Very disappointing, outside of Lewis Murphy they were the two young standout players coming through NSW Cup this year.

The club is cursed. Either that or their training regimen needs to be overhauled.

There can be no other explanation.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

No training prevents a broken bone. Or a concussion. Or the impact of a tackler landing on a leg. Or…

If Young had made an effort to tackle Kikau then Teddy would not have been in the situation of having to stop the run away big man. Young was piss weak and can only get better.

Also, my facebook feed just informed me that Nat Butcher and his wife just became parents, so this would be why he missed the dogs game I assume.

I thought Moriarty might debut this week with Watson starting in the halves.. who knows now. ZDC will probably play now at 5/8 or 14. But I notice he didn't play cup on the weekend, not sure if thats because of injury or maybe he was pulled after we lost Walker & Teddy so we could actually field 17 this week.

So we down to about 22 players ?

Slim pickings. No salary cap left to fill the vacant , what, 3 positions in the top 30?
