He only played 32 minutes against the Knights. Did something happen to him during the game like a niggle or did he come into the game carrying an injury ?

He hasn't appeared to be his usual self as of late. His last good performance was his 300th against the filthy vermin but the games since then, he has looked a bit quiet and barely noticeable.

Give him a break, the bloke is worn out.

    35 years old + 300 1st grade games.

As a prop mind you, the toughest position to play on the body imo.

And not just any prop - a prop who has always give 110% percent on the pitch.

I really don't mind if he decides to play every second game this year, or even take a bit of time off.

We are just fortunate to have him in the squad, because the hole he will leave will be huge after this year.

I thought he was great when on the field-especially in defence he was aggressive and pulled off some bellringers

late in game, chased hard on inside and smashed into Ponga, hurt him,. good old fashioned grubby prop play.
I think his less minutes has more to do with how good May is going and the rapid improvement of Whyte. It's along season and you can't have too many big boppers.

Yeah I feel like this will be the norm this season. He will start the game and once taken off will only be thrown back in if required. Robbo is trying to look after him and keep him on the field.

              Indeed he did.
              Those tackles were very valuable.

I was wondering as well but he came on again at the end
think they will reduce his minutes against some teams to keep him fresh for end of year and bigger games
also good that they trust May and Whyte with bigger minutes as well
Jwh think will be managed during the season ti last until the end

Have noticed he is playing alot less mins this year and rarely cracks 100m
Hopefully the big fella is just easing into the year and saving himself for the back end (when we need to win 10x straight to make the finals)

Settle down, sweetheart ... no need to get your panties all twisted up !

I'm only pointing out an observation and asking whether there's any injury or possible reasons that he's playing less minutes as of late. I know what he brings to the team, what he's done for us, what the position is, the void he will leave behind and all that other "feel good" stuff. He had an early mark last season when he was suspended and missed plenty of game time, so I was scratching my head last night thinking why hasn't he come out of the blocks firing on all cylinders this season (also his last season with us). Just for the records, my post wasn't an attack on JWH but checking to see if there's any concerns/issues, etc.

If he's being eased into the games/managed to make sure he redlines for us at the right time of the season - I get it and it makes sense !

If he's being pulled back to allow the young guns like May and Whyte more minutes to get them promoted as succession planning - I also get it and that also makes sense !

Yeah I hope it's nothing serious but good to know that I'm not the only one that's noticed this.

May and Whyte were solid last night and we didn't struggle. Happy that we've got both of them moving forward and add Spencer in the mix, we're looking good.

JWH typically doesn’t get going until around mid-season in the last few years. His first shift last night was ordinary but came back much stronger in the next.

On a side note - what tf is going on with Collins ball retention this season?

About the same as previous years, Lindsay has always had a loose carry in him

I presume Robbo was giving him an early mark after a tough couple of weeks. The game was in our control until Knights scored late and JWH was then rushed on to replace a tired Collins.
