  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Saints

What a great day to get our season started. Playing at our home in front of a capacity crowd. I hope these footballers know how lucky they are and what a great opportunity today presents.

Did we play our grand final in Round 1? We’ve been absolutely rubbish since. We’ve looked nowhere near a top side despite having a fantastic roster and good depth. This season has been nothing but a massive let down so far. Game day excitement has turned to dread. Dreading that we will put in another inept and embarrassing performance.

No better day than ANZAC Day to turn that all around. Let’s hope we see a performance to make us proud. Let’s hope our forwards can lead the way and our halves can forget about all the outside noises and put in a top performance. Our coach is feeling the pressure. We need to win this.

Don’t for one second compare this to war. They aren’t heros they are football players and it’s just another game of footy!

    Lest we forget.

    GO ROOSTERS!

Well said Thirteen, today is not about the football, it’s about the men and women who sacrificed everything to carve out the freedoms we so at times ignorantly take for granted.

Thank you to all those men and women who have served and continue to serve us.

        Lest we forget.

        GO EASTS!

              Lest we forget …

i think we are way more dangerous with Conner in the 13 i think rads should take Nats place on the edge and let sandon play 14. That would make us a much more potent attacking threat and give us some much needed speed through the middle and hopefully get away from the predictable block play rubbish we do.. just play fast and aggressive

If someone can say in a few words the exact sentiment you feel and want to express....just quote it. Thank you Teddy. Amen.

Attended my local dawn service again this morning. Thousands in attendance, seems to grow each year. No doubt this is repeated all over the country. Had an extra lump in the throat and tear in the eye today, not sure why. Maybe the events since Oct 7 and whats been happening here conributed. So proud and grateful to be Australian. A 9 year old girl gave a lovely tribute to her great grandfather.

Enjoy your Anzac Day everyone. My favourite day of the year...forever sacred.

Good luck to all our players, especially the lads experiencing this day/event for the first time. Its a privilege to be involved, do yourself and your families proud.

For some reason I always get worried when the betting is in our favour by at least $1. Any other team Melba for example would always win if that was the case.

Rads is a huge out which will also mess with our interchange as he has been belting out 80mins.

Toops will also be missed but I'm super relieved Suualli is no longer in the centres where he would've let minimum 3 tries in.

Can't believe the betting agencies have Dragons at $2.50. This will be close.

Lose and I fear this year will be another wasted opportunity for us and a repeat of the last few.

Connor is quite capable of going the 80, it's if he can do the same defensive workload as Rads

Crichton and Butcher need to step up

With Brisbane and then Warriors to follow. This really is a must win game. Confidence level is not high, our side with a spluttering incohesive goal line attack, against a side that when I’ve watched them has shown excellent goal line defence. No Radz or Toops , Gee and Klein the officials or is that the other way around ? Easts by 8 I mean what could possibly go wrong

                            Angus has been great.

Butcher needs to run 100+ metres. Has he ever?
