  • Connor Watson

Deserves an appreciation thread after last night.

51 tackles 133 running metres, sets up a try and brought a whole lot of leg speed and energy.

I was worried when we lost Radley and I was surprised to hear Robinson say he had planned to move Radley to the edge for this game but Watson was great.

    Good headache for Robbo.

He was phenomenal out there yesterday. Also didnt over play his hand in attack which for me is now the blueprint moving forward. Walker and Keary should have the ball at first receiver.

Was very good yesterday and got 2 points from me. Mind you he has always been a player I’ve rated and one I was very disappointed that we lost to Newcastle when we did It’s great that he is back where he belongs and playing good footy for us

Watson certainly added some much needed enthusiasm and spark; he was very, very good. He’s great when the opposition are on the back foot like Saints were for much of the game with staggered defensive lines. I didn’t realise that he got through so much defence as well. Well done Connor and it’s great to see him play so well after that horrible injury last year.
We didn’t lose anything with Vic not being there today, but I think I’d still prefer Vic at lock in games against the better teams where it’s more of an arm wrestle. He certainly presents as a compelling argument for 14 though.

Interesting do you think Rads was going to move to the edge and Nat butch back to the bench?
might be a sign of things to come with Watson at 13 and sandon smith as the 14
I wouldn’t be surprised to see watson and sandon smith 14 and 15 as Watson can cover backrow
some good selection headaches to come

I was confident he’d do a great job. His speed in the middle is pretty rare. Interesting that they would keep Wato at 13 and put Egan in the backline when Jenko went off.

We have two very good utilities in Watson and Smith.

I think he played one of his best games in RW&B last night.

A long time coming, but very welcome.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

At full strength he'd be our 14

                    Great team man.
                    The perfect 14 for me.

I think Rads would go alright on the edge.

                        It’s a funny phrase that.
We associate speed with running which you need legs to do but I was wondering does anyone have arm speed?

The way Watson went I’d leave him at lock and play rads on an edge
