Coaches are at the whim of players, as if they want the coach gone, then they "produce" the on-field results, which hastens the coach's removal.

Ben Hornby will be the interim coach until the Souths Board decides on who will be the new head coach.

Candidates are few and far between, and no one sticks out in the NSW Cup. I'm not sure about any candidates in the NRL assistant coach ranks that would be interested. Justin Holbrook, perhaps?

The Walker Brothers get a mention every now and then, although I don't think they are coaching anywhere currently after departing the Ipswich Jets at the end of the 2019 season.

Mal Meninga was keen but seemed to go cold on the idea when it was pointed out that he couldn't be both a club coach and national coach.

Bennett oversaw Adam Reynolds leaving the club... I'm not sure they would be in a rush to bring him back in. Clubs seem to take downward turn after his departure, short term success for long term pain.

it was Jason D who made the call to move Reynolds on. He thought Reynolds was too busted to offer any value. Bennett thought Reynolds should have been kept.
