I am a fan, but the time for this has passed.

Johnson would be expensive for what we'd get, and is past his prime.

I can only imagine this signals a no-confidence in Sandon Smith to perform at a very high level, at least in the more immediate term.

Remis Smith...fark me, that is equivalent to the Momirovski signing

      Big yes to SJ though

I think the question is more of, what happens if Sammy or Sandon got injured long term?

Throw watto in and that's about it, hence an experienced half.

        Bring back Hutch?

Hugo Savala should be in our 30 man squad next year

I think it’s a bit too late to be looking at SJ. He was brilliant last year and a bit inconsistent this year. I think one of the reasons he had a resurgence in form last year was due to being back home in NZ close to family.

Not at all. Robbo said last week that the combo from next season is Walker and Smith, and that they would be looking for an experienced half to be the 3rd part of that combination, with the experienced player able to step into the halves in case of injury and add an experienced head amongst 2 inexperienced ones.

                Definitely not a strike centre.
Agree with this however we need some depth and experience in the three-quarters. There's not much ready to step in from the lower grades.

Not necessarily. An old half guiding Sandon and Walker would be a good thing. I think it's too much to ask of the two youngsters to steer the team around. Doing it for 26 rounds is a tough gig.

Aidan Sezer fits.....not a world beater but can lead the team around

I’ve always liked Shaun as a player. Quite a humble kind of character perhaps due to his Laotian heritage. On looks alone he would look good in a Roosters jersey.

We would not be paying Shaun Johnson 500k+ to sit on the sidelines and be a backup half.

                        Get with the program mate!

In such an eventuality, Smith is the one who would be the back up. Johnson would 100% be starting every game if fit alongside Walker.

The bottom line is, Johnson won't be coming anyway. If we wind up with an experienced half as a third wheel backup as per plan, it sure as hell isn't going to be of the calibre of Johnson. It's more likely to be Pearce tbh.

Any thought of SJ is pure journalistic imagination based on a comment made by Robo. No names were mentioned and nothing leaks from the board ever!
Remember this every time you hear that the roosters are targeting any player!
Journalists know as much as we do until it happens!
it’s easy to make up a story by piecing together random alignments and pretend you got the scoop if it does happen!
A journalist will get an inside scoop directly from the roosters and will be able to name their source. There are never loose lips with this club!

Even Fatty Vautin and Dale Shearer looked good in a Roosters jersey.

I think the roosters strategy of using experienced players to guide a young player in a certain position has had its use by date for me.
Fans romanticism around this a real turn off.
Ex players can contribute at training sessions rather than a current player or a specific player bought to hold the hand of a less experienced player.
By season end 2025 barring injury Sam Walker will be a 100 gamer.
Smith though inexperienced is surrounded by experience and skill so he will be fine.
Use another rookie for an injured Smith or Walker. Isn’t it why we have an academy ? Pay a rookie a similar amount for an old head from another club will be an incentive for the young players at the academy and thru the grades.
Short term K Mart buys ( too many too mention ) by Robbo hasn’t really worked out other than Sam Moa and Les Mierables mate Remy Casty
This formula thankfully not with us this season.
I recall famed rooster ,Des O’ Reilly, saying to me “players come into their own once they hit the 100 game mark.”

Probably a year too late for me. He had an obscenely good year in 2023, but his management and performance this year have been fairly poor. His option selects against Newcastle last week were not what I would expect of such a senior half.
