He got his fingers strapped after scoring a try but I'd be surprised if they left him out there for anything more than a dislocation.

He was interviewed after the game on fox - said after he scored looked down and his finger was bent the wrong way, trainer put it back in and he was sweet

Robbo was asked about Toia at his presser today and basically said the plan for him is to get games into Toia in NSW Cup set up to have a strong preseason and worry about first grade next season.

All that said when Toia's name was mentioned you could see Robbo light up with excitement he knows they have a special special player on their hands.

As long as it is not Dom defending at centre next year I am happy.

What makes Toia such a special player? I admit I haven't seen him play.

He seems to be one of those guys who is just uncommonly strong. He seems to dominate physically whoever he is up against, but is also athletic.

He is opposing Jaxson Paulo this weekend. It will be an interesting matchup.

                  Latrell-ish?

He has a great fend and good footwork but that means nothing once you make first grade.
                    It’s like boys Vs men.
I am excited to see him play but have seen it before where a player is touted a future star and struggles in firsts. You only have to look at Moga who was 1000% more impressive than Toia in the lower grades but was nowhere near as good as the hype. He did have some serious injuries but was a definite let down.

I trust Robbo to blood him when he feels he is ready.

Pretty much. He’s not as rangey as Latell, but solid as the proverbial brick outhouse. 183cm & 100kg at 19yo, and plays aggressively.

Those stats are the norm now.

Let’s hope injuries don’t hurt his career but seems to be a very strong and also quick tackle breaking centre
tbh Suaali could try and use a fend or two like toia does
the impressive part with toia was he played at school, did an acl, came back after 9 months off and dominated his first games against men in nsw cup making 10-15 tackle breaks against seasoned players
could be anything but let’s see next year when he plays some first grade
I expect him to be named round 1 next year

Yet Billy Smith, Manu & Suaalii are all under 100kgs but over 190cm.

Anyone know if Billy Smith is definitely done for the season?
Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

I personally love that he can carry with either hand and can fend with both which then gives us options what side we play him. If Billy Smith comes back into grade he’s pretty much an out and out left centre.

Whoever mentioned that he’s uncommonly strong is pretty much bang on. According to the players he and Crichton are the clear standouts in the gym and from what I’ve seen of Toia it translates very well onto the field.

No doubt he won’t be as physically dominant in NRL compared to Cup. He’ll be coming up against smarter defenders who hold to their defensive principles better and have tools to counteract his weapons but so long as he can turn the corner injury-wise he will be a very good player for us for a long time.
