clearly we want angus but we can't offer him as much as we could have if we hadn't signed fifita. up to gus what he wants to do. his comments of late have been that he's prepared to move on but maybe that's just a negotiating ploy. hope he stays

        Sorry mate.
I reckon he needs to exorcise his 2015 GF demons and he won’t be doing that with Illawarra or Robina.
Would Brisbane take him back now that Reynolds is go’one?

More chance of signing Cronk for 12 months.
          Can't see it happen.
Jesus the thought of signing cronk even now made me go from six to midnight

Which Angus won't be doing, and nor should he. Given what he could make elsewhere. But he's gone I reckon. The problem too is that Sitili is signed until 2027 I think. And one of them has to go at the end of 2024.
Why not? We stuck by him throughout all his off field dramas, and stuck by him in the last 18 months where he wasn’t even playing worth a quarter of his contract. He should absolutely feel somewhat obliged to repay the club for at least next season if it means taking a pay cut. Obviously that’s not how it works but we did do everything in his best interest in making sure he was supported and looked after.

two ways of keeping gus are - he plays for significant unders; or, we offload sitili which seems unlikely as the best reason for sitili to want to go somewhere else is if he has fifita and gus in front of him.
ideally we keep gus but if he goes we're still well covered on the edge - although wong really needs to show us what he's got

He doesn’t need to play for unders
we have Just under $3ml left in the cap so we could pay him $850k like Fifita if we wanted to
would prefer sitili go if he is on that much and sure up the outside backs
But we have so many leaning we can keep him in the cap easily

robbo said in the presser that it would be hard to keep him and he'd have a better idea of our cap situation than we do.
doubt we'd have 3m left - the only unexpected departures for next year are manu and suaalii. yeah, keary was signed briefly but that wouldn't have definitely been factored into next year's cap. brandon smith has taken up his option for another year, we've signed the union bloke and we've re-signed toops.
if it's a question of keeping some money in case manu returns next year then we'd want to be sure that that is a good chance before we choose that option over keeping gus. also, if gus goes it might mean we can offer a longer contract to sammy.

Agree there was some re signings to do
with jwh, kez, suaali, Manu, and was looking like toops and Gus there was around $4.3ml in the cap leaving
toops is staying but not on much, and signed Fifita and Marky n for under $1.5ml combined
even if Gus re signed on good coin there is still plenty of money in the cap (over $3m)
if Gus re signs still around $2m
even give or take for contract upgrades still $1m to go spending for another centre
