  • After watching the coach’s media I see Gus leaving. Maybe he hasn’t specifically said he is but from the way robbo has talked in a few interviews lately I would say that the contract talk has dried up on Angus’ end. Maybe he is just looking for that big dollar or a good rugby contract.
If he resigns I see him only doing a 1 year contract which is disappointing.

I just watched the poddy/interview of Gus with Isaac John that was posted in here but it doesn't look good imo. One thing that made me think he won't be hanging around is when he was quizzed on Robbo (around 34.5mins in) his first comments were 'he's a different cat'. It wasn't in a bad way but also not in a good one and he followed with talking about his coaching accolades and it didn't seem like they had a very personal relationship, or if they did it has now soured. He finishes with, yeah he is a good 'coach'. Whereas throughout the interview when talking about JWH for example he was very complementary of how good of a 'man' he was.

Like I said I could be reading way too far into it but it was just my thoughts. Pity though because he is killing it atm but he doesn't seem to be in a rush to sort his future whereas I think as a club will want to make moves quick.

If we loose gus on top of Fifita leaving we are screwed int the edge
Can’t see both butchers getting us far
        Wong does need another shot

        • After speaking to Gus last night at the meet and greet in Brissy, my take is he is gone at the end of the year.
He seems pissed off, but was happy to take photos and sign stuff.

Poor form from Gus if true
he wanted to go last year until Aus rugby pulled the deal then has a France deal open which he was going to take after this year
we are open to signing him even with the Fifita signing as well
if he leaves it may leave a pretty sour taste in the mouth
if he is pissed off I wonder if robbo or nick had words to him about keeping things in house
it’s amazing what form does when your manager has several clubs looking at you where at the start of the year most were staying away
abit of an ego boost although forgetting the average form for years and how the club helped you when you were at rock bottom maybe some humility may go all right

maybe not. i thought his comments were inconclusive. clearly he's upset but his comments earlier in the week don't make sense unless he wanted to stay. with fifita not coming he has a stronger hand in contract negotiations and doesn't need to appear eager to stay

Had the same thought, especially with the way he goes on about south’s, Bennett and Madge.

johns goes on about him and angus just skips over it as quickly as he can.

as much as he’s been screwed over this is souring my view on him a bit

                • The club is bigger than any one player, if he leaves we move on and Wong , Stili or E Butcher, fill the role. None as good but it’s going to be a few years of transition so probably not the worst time for him to go and develop Wong + some good juniors in Max McCathie and Blake Steep

Why do you say that? Any context you get add?

                      • If Angus wants to be a little drama queen than he can piss right off. He should appreciate being at the greatest club and remember how we stuck by him during his “mental health” issues. Plus we tolerated him for many years and paid him a very good salary while he was bog average.

Man up Angus. Stop being a little bitch and do your talking on the field.

                        • I’ve always said that we never got our bang for our buck for the huge $$ invested in Crichton. He only ever put on a performance around Origin or when his contract was up. Now suddenly he’s playing how he should have been playing years ago, just another contract/origin grab then once gotten back to his old form. We’ve never ever got our moneys worth from him so I still say it’s no big loss not like Manu or JWH who have red, white and blue blood in their veins and have given their all. Let him go we don’t need him.

Based on tonight's performance Angus should be on match payments only.
