Seems like a DCE issue again
    fifita has embarrassed himself
    the titans
the chooks and riff as he came to both asking to come next year
and chooks may have disgruntled players (Gus and sitili) because of this which they now need to work through
    well done Dave

The elephant in the room is, I believe our premiership window closes in 2024.

2025-2026 will be a rebuilding & recovery period.

I think the Fifita 'signing' was a bit of a panic move.

There isn't a huge amount of primo quality on the market in terms of 'X factor' players, and this was an opportunity to bag one so the club jumped at it.

Make no mistake we are in a bit of a tricky place from next year on.

That's why I am enjoying 2024. We are a real chance to win it this year. Subsequent years, it'll be tougher for us.

I have always loved Gussy. Hope he finishes his career here. But he isn't worth a long term risk at $800K.
$650K maybe $700K tops. Two years with a one year option in our favour. At 28 years old I think that is around the ball park.
But he will probably attract $800K+ elsewhere and good luck to him if he chooses to take the money.

We're still a chance next season especially if we retain Angus. Manu is the only player moving on who will be hard to replace. I have plenty of faith in Sandon. A new alpha will emerge from an already strong pack which is still developing. Most likely Spencer. Exciting times ahead!

When it comes to players that significantly increase your chances of winning a comp you don't worry about an extra $150k a year.(Egos must be set aside) Our left edge is potent with Gus plus he's the ideal chaperone for a small half. Big, strong, mobile, fast and can ballplay.

I figured it was a done deal since the NRL posted the signing on their own facebook a few days ago, usually this means the contract has been registered with the NRL (With of course the 10 day cooling off period still to come).

Not that I think it’s a large loss for the club, unbelievable you would seek us out, come to Sydney to meet us, our staff, coaches and actually sign with us, to go “Oh actually I’ve reconsidered, I can see Titans building something special…..”. Poor form from Fifita, not much respect for how he has handled himself in this situation. And I’m comfortable in saying enjoy Gold Coast, his halves this week are Chris Randall and Sam Verrills, two specialty hookers…

Could have had a great career, oh well.

Also I’d like to add, if the deadline was Thursday last week to accept or decline his player option, how has he been allowed to go back on the option if the deadline has passed?

Be interesting how Angus will go without keary who have developed a nice combo.

yet to see anything amazing out of Spencer that he can be the leader of the pack.

biggest hope for next year is Manu possibly returning.

It was the deadline, but not the cooling off period, which lets the titans counter.

Anyone who thinks Fifita would be embarrassed is kidding themselves.
What do athink he’ll stay in doors & not go out?
Fifita is cashed up & will be playing SOO over the next couple of months & wouldn’t give back flipping on the Roosters a second thought.
If anyone would be embarrassed it’s the Chooks.

This is great news, the guy is a forward version of Trell….lazy as.

The big losers in all of this are the Titans who now have to pay this media hyped up myth a million dollars a year to do nothing more than the occasional play to beef up his highlights reel, his manager who looks like an amateur clown (good luck ever dealing with the Roosters again) and Fifita himself who is recommitting to a club which despite what that deluded clown Tallis says has no chance of winning a premiership anytime soon.

Better we find out what type of person Fifita is now than in the coming years when this lack of commitment could cause serious damage to the club and team. Chooks have dodged a bullet on this one.

Do us supporters really give a shit about what our players earn? I know I don’t. I just want us to be successful with a great bunch of players; I’ll leave the management of the club and player salaries to those paid to do it.

Roosters coach Trent Robinson woke on Wednesday morning to the news that his club had withdrawn their offer to their star signing David Fifita.

It was about 5.30am before club chairman Nick Politis was able to contact Robinson to tell him of the events that had unfolded on Tuesday night.

Politis was blindsided by a phone call from Fifita’s management around 10pm informing him there might be an issue with Fifita, who had agreed to a four-year deal with the Roosters last week.

Fifita had been wrestling with his decision and had a change of heart. He wanted to remain at the Titans and had been in talks with his club about doing so.

The Titans were within their rights to continue speaking to Fifita under the NRL’s 10-day cooling off period. Coach Des Hasler had been working overtime to convince Fifita to change his mind.

Hasler is one of the game’s quirkiest coaches, but he can also be one of its most convincing. Fifita’s teammates were also leaning on the star back rower.

FIFITA DROPS ‘GOOD AND BAD NEWS’

Politis had a sense of what was about to unfold on Tuesday night and even though he was unable to reach Robinson, he immediately withdrew the club’s offer to Fifita when he was told that the barnstorming back rower was having second thoughts.

The words of Fifita was still ringing in his ears from last week. When Fifita signed for the Roosters he told Politis that he was calling with ‘good and bad news’. The answer was the same to both bits of information - that he was now a Rooster.

Fifita had quickly developed cold feet. The Roosters knew that last thing they needed was for him to arrive at the club doubting his move. Politis decided it was better to cut the cord now than deal with an unhappy player during the course of next season – not giving Fifita a chance to change his mind again.

                              FIFITA YET TO CONTACT ROOSTERS

It is understood Fifita is yet to reach out to the Roosters to explain his decision. Instead, it was left to his management, who were understood to be as equally as surprised by their client’s decision, to relay the news to Politis.

Needless to say it came as a shock. Politis had already made plans to catch up with Fifita on Sunday with the Roosters and Titans Magic Round matches taking place on Saturday.

Fifita, his mum Gwen and Fifita’s partner Shaylee Bent had been invited to share a meal with Politis on Sunday. That is naturally off the table.

The Roosters had also made plans to sign Bent to their NRLW side with Bent having spoken with Roosters NRLW coach John Strange as recently as Monday regarding a potential positional switch from the forwards to the backs.

The Roosters had also made plans to sign Bent to their NRLW side with Bent having spoken with Roosters NRLW coach John Strange as recently as this week.

It is unclear if that deal will now go ahead with the Titans hopeful of keeping Bent.

They will get over it. I was not a fan of the signing in the first place, as Fifita is hardly a player that puts in week in and week out, as he would have to when playing for the Roosters. He gets his way with it playing for the Titans, as they are not expected to be a premiership contender. There is a valid reason for Fifita being compared to Dave Taylor.
