  • My take on Bwian Smith

The guy is an A Class ****wit.
    Conceited, hypocritical,angry,fake,intense.

A wonderful knowledge of league and a win at all cost attitude are his attributes.

We will not win a comp under him

    BUT

I applaud his recruitment. Heavily influenced by Gould Nick took a very bold step.

In four years time when he gets the boot we will have rebuilt the joint from the bottom up alas it will be without any silverware.

Well done Nick, board and decision makers.

    Its a coup.

This club needs a culture change and he is the man to bring it in. I agree he probably won't win us a premiership but he will bring in some sorely needed change to a party boy culture that has developed with in our club!

Who says he is a ****wit?

      Do you know the bloke?

All I know is that his teams play a good brand of football.

We've been saying all year that we need a coach that provides some structure. Now we have it.

he might not personally be a ****wit, but there are a lot of stories that go around about his mannerisms and behaviour that make me think he might be a bit of a ****wit coach. text messaging players when they are dropped, the mind games with team sheets.... imo a good coach is a good footy tactician and a good player manager. smith ticks box one, but if rumour be true, is a bit dicey when managing people

yes he is a ****wit and I could tell you at least 5 stories that are personal accounts in dealing with Brian.

          The man can coach football.
But coaching life success is a very different proposition. Its more than A+B=C
Coaches need to be good at both these days.
          Eventually players figure him out.

So we're going from one end of the spectrum to the other? How about a happy medium; a coach with a decent personality and skills. Does such a person even exist?

unfortunately unless you are Bennett respect from the players comes at a cost.

Number 1 cost is being liked by anyone.
              Its fake sincerity.

I find the whole Bennett thing very peculiar.

He doesn't come across as the sort of person that is a people person. He has had some great success. But in my mind, he's also always had great teams.

What a bold prediction We will not win a comp under him We have had about 1 in 10 coaches since Gibson who have won us a comp I say the odds are in your favour

I'm with trewhella on this issue of the new coach - I don't like the choice one bit for many reasons.

Smith reminds me of Graham Murray, great with bringing the young guys in and developing them. (we saw under murray we brought up Mini, Cross, Heggs, Crock and Flanno)

Where we are at the moment, we have a youth policy, alot of young player that need control and direction. For this, Smith is perfect.

he is a teacher by trade, and for young players that need direction, they need someone like smith.

The problem is with smith, is when he is somewhere for more than 4 - 5 yrs, all these young blokes are now older, yet Smith still coaches as if they are still young rookies and thats where his problem lies.

But in saying that, at the moment, with the players we have on the team, we need a coach that offers dicipline and direction.

                            Smith is the man.
