I have said it a few times this year. There are too many risk takers in our team. We let Warriors back into the game through unnecessary risk. We briefly let Dragons back into the game off the back of two high risk plays. Not good enough against genuine contenders.

We should be sponsored by one of the bookmakers.

Agree, didn’t do a good job of playing the percentages tonight. The sharks realised the game was there for the taking in the second half by toning down the risk and completing sets, we kept trying to score off every play.

This team has an expensive Brandon Smith problem as Watson is the best dummy half and one of the most important players on this team now.

Cronulla completed 1 more set than us, penalties were even 9-9, Cronulla conceded 1 more linebreak and 8 more missed tackles.

I think your conclusion is off. There was very little between the two sides, some individual moments seemed to define the game for me not so much that one side did any one particular part of the game better than the other.

Exactly your stats prove what I’m saying they converted their opportunities, we didn’t, this is what I said already, did they push passes? drop balls cold? Not being in position for a scoring play Rugby Joe? They did the the simple things right holding the pill winning the ruck for almost the entire 2nd half, we had no line speed for a large chunk of it, Sammy missing a conversion?

Did Cronulla not do that better than us?

sharks were great. hynes has a lot of time with the ball and they played great in the second half. we were good in patches ... too many errors. frustrating

I agree, our defence has slipped. This is what lost us the game tonight.

I just don’t think we have the balance exactly right yet with how much energy and focus we are putting into our attack vs how much energy and focus we are putting into our defence.

We went toe to toe with the top team to just miss out. Still plenty of good to be taken from the loss.

Disappointing loss but not the end of the world. Poor defensively tonight, there were times when we literally didn't come off our line. Some real soft, lazy efforts. Some dodgy penalties, some poor kicking options, and they scored off every error.. It was very much Roosters footy. They weren't great either, but our upside is way above theirs. We are e still in this, if we can tighten up defensively. Collins was a machine again tonight.

I think that’s unfair, he wasn’t very good in his return tonight but he’s been pretty good up until then and I’ve been one of the bigger doubters on the Brandon Smith signing.

I agree that we were crap in the 2nd half. Made numerous costly errors. But it frustrates me that every week we are officiated to a different standard. We were our own worst enemies tonight but the ref made it easier for Cronulla

Disappointed with us because without our awful discipline we would have won that game. We dropped off in the second half as well. Not too concerned with our d this game as it’s magic round, and poor defence seems to be par of the course. Our attack compared to last year is eons ahead. Building well.

We didn’t need another big middle on the bench. If you’re going to play Whyte you’re dropping one of May or Leniu. It’s not like there’s unlimited minutes to be shared amongst the props.

Would you not have him come on as lock and have Watson playing as the hooker from the bench which he had started and finished the game as.

sharks had a big bench, we had a player who could help combat it but instead went with Egan who came on as cover for keary when the game was already lost.
