  • Second half of the season - our draw

You'd have to think that the run from here is very favourable. Only games with teams ahead of us on the table are with the Storm and the Dolphins. A top four spot is well within the team's reach:

    Cowboys - Home
    Bye
    Eels - Away
    Dogs - Home
    Tigers - Home
    Dragons - Home
    Bye
    Storm - Away
    Manly - Home
    Dolphins - Away
    Bye
    Eels - Home
    Titans - Away
    Raiders - Home
    Vermin - Away

Through SOO, we will lose troops for the games against the Cows and the Dogs. For the Storm, some might be rested but others might back up.

That draw is what concerns me. We will continue playing high risk footy and look like champions, and the Panthers will strangle us in the finals.

This is a good point. We need to nail down our defence. We are far too leaky.

Yeah this is the problem we just haven’t shown enough grit and composure against the Panthers, I think once the origin period is done Robbo will crack the whip, we really need to get the Bondi Wall back we still have more errors in us then Penrith and they just punish your mistakes.

I am sure that even the "Sack Robbo" faction of this forum would concede that he prepares his teams well for the finals. V'Landys version of the game demands that a team can score a lot of points and this year's Roosters team is the most potent attacking team we have had in many years.

I have faith that we can develop a premiership winning defensive game.

It was only a few weeks ago that Walker's father threatened Sammy would leave if we didn't let him play "his style of football". Whilst I have no doubt Walker will one day grow up and understand how to calculate risk, it will be interesting to see whether Robbo pushes the point before Sammy's contract renewal.

It is a very friendly draw coming home and realistically we should win most games.

Yesterday was a good step in the right direction as we powered ahead with points instead of getting dragged down to their level.

Top four is so important and if we are going to be a real threat we can't afford to have many more performances like the dog's game.

I would be disappointed if we drop any of the next five games.

As my old junior coach would often say, you can't improve on something you haven't got, so I am sure the defence will improve the more work and practice they put into it as the season progresses. Only at the halfway point of the regular season.

Attack is dominating the defence nowadays but of course you need to be good at both parts of the game to be a premiership contender.

Their defence has been pretty good. In quite a few games - including yesterday's - tries have come after refs have decided to issue welfare penalties and six agains to teams we were flogging. Yes, there have been a few lapses, but the basics are there.

As for their attack, we have scored around 100 more points than any other team in the comp. And this was achieved in the harder half of our draw. We could be heading for a record breaking attacking year. It's been a joy to watch.

After the match when the players were milling around on the ground shaking hands, chatting, being interviewed etc, it looked like Keary and Walker were having a go at each other. Did anyone else see it?

1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

As the draw suggests, I reckon we are a massive chance this year. Believe.

3 buys in 10 weeks will help towards origin and back end of the year
we could rack up some points but we need to start nailing the tough and tight games as well so we don’t get unstuck coming into finals
certainly a good draw to have post round 12
and the cowboys will have 4-5 out with origin and dogs maybe a couple

some games are harder than others but no easy games in the nrl. still that draw could be worse

Indeed. We repeatedly lose penalty/6A counts against sides we are flogging, one can only assume because it's bad for NRL business for us to win by 60.

But I knew when I checked the penalty/6A count at the end of the panthers/sharks game there would be no such anomaly - no effort was made to even up the scores and penrith comfortably won the penalty count.

This needs to be constantly considered when treating their 3-peat on all its merits. Yes they are good, but they've not been consistently hammered by the match officials as we have every year we've won the GF.

It's just business - nobody like to see the evil latte sippers win.

The toxic fat walking corpse VLandys even made a "joke" about our supposed salary cap cheating after the Vegas game.

Really? It's always a great look when the chairman makes comments like that. What a turd.
