  • Crichton opens up on Roosters future

"Crichton made it clear that he didn’t want to play second fiddle to anyone at club level after it came out that the Roosters had signed Fifita from the Titans, only for the powerhouse forward to backflip on the deal.

The Roosters star spoke openly about the situation at the time and made it clear he was unimpressed with how it had played out and that no one had spoken to him about what was going on.

He has since cooled off and says he has no issues with the club or coach Trent Robinson.

“I was emotional, and there was a bit of a build up so I kind of said it how it was and spoke from the heart,” he said.

“There’s no love that’s lost for the club. The club has given me so much. I understand at the end of the day that it’s a business and it’s not personal.

“We (Robinson and Crichton) sat down and had a chat after that. I’ll keep that confidential, but we talked after that (interview) and we’ve got a good relationship and we’re in a good place now.”

I like many was very disappointed by his public comments but happy to see him take ownership, time to forgive and move on.

I was told last week that there has been a 2yr deal put on the table by the club that he had his manager are happy with and that whilst it will be difficult to nut out the finer details through an origin campaign that there's confidence the negotiations will be concluded within a matter of weeks not months.

I thought it was pretty poor form from him. This is a guy that was shopping himself around to rugby for the last 12 months and now we are supposed to consult him before we make a move in the player market....

Anyway, as you said forgive and forget

But we're still no clearer if he's staying.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

good sentiments from gus. looking likely he'll stay and that's a good thing.
gus might have said things before which weren't glowing about robbo but robbo got his own back a bit praising hudson young in last week's presser. one all.

Let’s hope we re sign Gus
shame he came out to the media but he has looked to Aussie rugby before they left the deal and France rugby before and looks non interested last year with average form over a few seasons
he is in good form and let’s hope this form continues when he re signs for the next 2 years
the next 2 years makes him not have long to have to work for another contract extension which will work well for both parties

It could also be said that his comments forced the Roosters to fast-track the retention negotiations.

Just another Roosters article from the sycophant Martin Gabor of Newslimited and part of the daily 17 story quota from the NRL media partners. A nothing story.

Fast-track? He's off contract in 4 months time. For a player of his calibre not to have signed a new deal is most unusual!

He was going to France until that club got relegated.

Coincidentally his form skyrocketed when he needed a new deal.

As we've learned with Fifita... wait until it's official before getting overly excited.
