  • Roosters outright leaders in the NRL for penalties conceded

By a long margin. 82 conceded, next worst Tigers 69.

These are the NRL's own stats.

Wow, those Queensland sides have great discipline. Titans 45, broncos 52, dolphins 54.

Interestingly, the NRL don't publish stats on teams' six again conceded figures. I wonder why that is - can anyone guess?

Nor do they publish penalties received stats - perhaps these are available elsewhere?

Once again it appears that being the most racist side in the NRL is not the only thing we have to be ashamed of.

Once again, for perhaps, I don't know 20 years straight?, we are the most poorly disciplined side by a long way in the NRL.

I'm so ashamed. I feel sorry for the NRL and the poor referees who obviously are just doing their job to try and keep things fair.

Some really good analysis around penalties, set restarts and referees so far this year.

    For the TLDR crew;

A breakdown of this year's penalties conceded (Roosters first) by team.

      7 - 5 (loss) Brisbane

      9 - 4 (loss) Manly

      5 - 5 (draw) Souths

      4 - 9 (win) Penrith

      5 - 6 (win) Canterbury

      6 - 4 (loss) Newcastle

      10 - 7 (loss) Melbourne

      5 - 4 (loss) St. George

6 - 3 (loss) Brisbane (look on the brightside Ezra, Jonathon, Latrell, Lote, Karl, Nicho etc. You may have lost the game but at least there was no name calling, and no Ray Stevens music playing in the background.

8 - 3 (loss) New Zealand (seriously Kasey? 8 to 0 in one half? And I thought you’re one of the better ones (refs of course).

      8 - 6 (loss) Cronulla

      9 -7 (loss) Canberra

? - ? (?) Nth. Queensland. Well, the Roosters are on a roll - 7 in a row and counting. But hey, Gerard Sutton as referee this week so what could possibly go wrong?

Interestingly, the two penalty counts we’ve won, we’ve lost the game. And yes, I am very much an Eastern Suburbs supporter; I say ‘we’ when we lose, and 'we' when we win.
"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

No surprises from me. Does anyone still think we are officiated to the same standards as other teams? How do you lose the penalty count 7 games straight. I'm not saying there is a conspiracy against the roosters. I'm saying that the refs (who themselves are fans and supporters of other clubs) have an unconscious bias against us.

They are no longer referees, but are now “game managers”.

Aren’t we one of the only teams not to get the bye yet? That’ll play a part.

Yes us and our opponents this week the Cowboys the last remaining clubs to get a bye.

There are 4 clubs who have already had 2 byes.

Don’t mind having our 3 byes all around origin / back end of the year though to be honest.

Agree… don’t hate our bye schedule but the point remains, and to play devils advocate, we’ve played more games and so conceded more penalties.

                    It’s exactly this.

In any survey ever done Easts have about 6% of the NRL fan base. If you don’t go for Easts you certainly don’t have a “soft spot” for us. You’d probably hate us. I get it.

It stands to reason that 94% of refs (who are fans of footy) grew up hating us. And it shows on the field.

There’s so many big wins over the past 20 years where it’s borderline impossible to lose a penalty count unless you’re deliberately judging things differently. Like how do we put 60 on Saints on Anzac Day and have them only concede 4 penalties. Get real.

Yep no complaints about our byes. It skews the ladder (we are pretty clearly a top 4 team). But teams like Saints that have a bye first round: it’s a complete waste.

Winning Sunday would be massive going into a bye. Would guarantee top 4 and good vibes going into the downhill run to the finals

Just another example of the NRL fraud and manipulation of game results.

                            Interesting and revealing stats there.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.
