  • I was impressed by NSW hanging in there for so long, when Suaalii went off in the 8th minute I was thinking it could be an absolute drubbing but NSW stuck in there for 60 or so before fatigue caught up and lead to 38-10 which I don't think is a fair representation of the game entirely.

To replace Suaalii I don't think Latrell is the answer, this is the worst year I've ever seen him play and even his usual occasional amazing game hasn't happened yet. For me, why not Burton? He's in the camp, he's won a comp at centre, every time I see the Dogs play he's one of their best, he can cover halves as well, that's the answer I reckon.

Hynes to never play Origin again I don't think, even if Moses goes down to injury before game 2 I'd rather Chad Townsend or Luke Brooks to wear 7 then Hynes again.

    • Ditto.

And as if the Suallii tackle was deliberate. I’m not a big Joseph fan but the kid isn’t dirty. He goes for the big shot, which is his job. Walsh slipped.

He will do a lot of time for it but it wasn’t malicious.

      Reckless, careless etc etc

      But intent?

      Eggspert has it wrong

        3. Teddy had a great first half and still ran over 200mte and a try
They were 3 of nsw best

        4. Collins seemed quite but still made 140mtr

suaali well what a surprise he came jamming in - now everyone knows what he is like! Let’s hope Billy smith is back soon and suaali will be out for some time
Absolutely he should have got longer. He didn’t look happy when Madge subbed him towards the end of the game.

Absolutely! The great spectacle it used to be ceased last century.. We'll never see the likes of cement Gillespie, Mark Caroll, Morley's and SBWs again sadly.

            • I do not care about Origin given it’s a contrived media circus nowadays but I managed to get a replay of the JS hit.

It’s a send off. No idea how anyone can say otherwise. Yes he’s falling but the sheer recklessness of it is clear to see. Feel bad for JS and hope he doesn’t cop it from other supporters. Now we lose our centre for a month and probably have his confidence at rock bottom when he gets back.

              Isnt Origin great?

And some say there was no intent either, but he absolutely launched himself into the tackle with the intent to hurt Walsh, unfortunately it just went a bit wrong and he got him high. It was a send off every day of the week.

Launched...fmd. Suaalii's knees were bent and his back was horizontal. He could not tackle any lower if he tried.

Exactly. And he's a pretty tall cat into the bargain.

Both his feet were off the ground immediately after impact indicating that he launched himself in my view, but everyone has an opinion.

But that's the name of what used to be the great game of Rugby League. For example I don't believe Liam Martin went in to his tackle on the Queensland player with any intention of giving a warm cuddle and that defence was cheered by all as the highlight of a dull spectacle. We used to have about 25-30 of those tackles in the great days of SOO footy, but sadly no more than 1 or 2 in today's game. Like you said unfortunately it did go wrong but the intent to hurt Walsh in defence is entirely correct in my opinion.

                        • Honestly the roosters won’t loose anything with Suaali out he is an overated and overhyped liability anyway
He is just keeping the centre warm until Billy smith comes back

I was more concerned with Leniu knee and praying he hadn’t done an acl

Suaalii was making a ball and all tackle, and Walsh slipped and was falling as he passed the ball. As I said on another post, the actual tackle did no damage; it was Walsh's head hitting the ground that caused the "concussion."

You see defenders back slam ball carries whose heads hit the ground as well, but I don't recall these defenders being sent off as it's deemed a legit tackle.

I can't see how they came to the decision that it was reckless, though.

It's ridiculous to suggest, as some say that he launched himself, that it was deliberate, and that he was trying to hurt Walsh.

A classic Adrian Morley tackle on Robbie Kearns would be one used as an example of a reckless or careless high tackle.

Suaalii's one is not even in the same post code, hence why his tackle should only come under the dangerous contact category

Agree. I understand the recent interpretation that it is the tackler's responsibility to avoid contact even if the player is falling, but I feel the threshold for a send-off needs to exclude these mitigating circumstances.

                              • The following two frames clearly shows Walsh slipping and falling and how far in the one second time frame between the 2 frames - If Walsh didn't slip and fall it would have been a normal tackle - Impossible for Suaalii to pull out and it also shows no evidence of Suaalii "launching" himself either
