  • State of Origin, game 1

The day has finally arrived for game 1 of State of Origin after a drawn out build-up. Plenty of interest for Roosters fans with 5 players in the teams. As has been pointed out, potentially contrasting styles of play, which will make an compelling fight.

Have a crack at the poll plus add your tips for first tryscorer and man of the match.
    • Winner (+ I’ve added margins for those keen)
    • First Tryscorer
    • Player of the match
Theres a reason why Origin is a hit as it’s on a Wednesday night with nothing else to compete with.

Wack the oven on, put some pies in and grab a cold beer. Make the state proud.

          Pretty even match
nsw missing clearly, turbo and Murray while not selecting Teddy originally, JAC, Latrell and while qld missing Munster, Tino and fledgler
nsw has got the strong work ethic players with big mtrs coming from the back 5, and a strong forward bench to keep the pack rotation and overpower qld
Qld have a very quick back 5 and extra back on the bench so will be looking to move the ball around
can’t wait to see Gus and especially how Leniu goes, if Leniu can use his aggression but not overplay it he will be powerful
hoping Teddy had a blinder allthough if he does he will likely keep his spot which isn’t great for chooks
the one I can’t work out is Suaali - I expect him to be a crowd fav early with some jamming hits but I’m afraid he will get caught out coming in in defence leaving the winger stuck or getting caught flat footed v Holmes or hammer which won’t help his confidence

Kiwis share the same mindset as Queensladaaaars. It’s an identity mindset with the chip of course and is so apparent especially after a loss by either team. The nation or state go into mourning.

I have mixed feelings as i'm not a fan of Maguire. He still reeks of 2014 Souffs as far as i'm concerned.

                  I'm with you.

1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

I think Qld are a bit too good.

                        Qld 1-12
                        FTS: X Coates
                        Motm: DCE

                        Not a Hynes fan.

Hoping for a NSW win. Praying that the Roosters players aren't injured or suspended.

Can't see us winning with a Hynes/Luai combo. Can see JS unfortunately letting a few in at centre.... and of course the media unfairly blaming Teddy.

I wonder if the Klown will find away to penalise JWH or Rads tonight?

Game one and Tedesco is pivotal in the NSW victory, showing many flashes of individual brilliance. MacGyver is front page news for the next week because he drops Tedesco for game two, despite his performance in game one being the difference between the two teams.

Go no injuries to Easts players!
