Sorry for the double vision (could fix it but have put that in my too hard basket for doing on my mobile phone this morning).

In short I think the tackle is unconventional as opposed to being a shoulder charge (as they claim) or a swinging arm to the head. His chest MIGHT make some contact with the head at some point (MIGHT) but that's not how the tackle made contact:

    - He came in with a low arm that's undisputedly below the head.

    - His other arm stays by his side the whole time and he does NOT point a shoulder out towards Walsh's head.

    - Walsh was not knocked out as he passed his HIA.

    - At worst there is contact between old mate Jo's chest and Reecie Booooi's head. I don't think this is a penalty so long as there's no swinging arm, there's a valid attempt to wrap an arm around him to impact the tackle and it isn't a shoulder charge.

    Worth challenging IMO.

Literally inches from the beauty Liam Martin put on later in the match.

Exactly. One metre off the ground and being treated like a Morley shoulder charge to the head of a 2m tall forward.

When you take the emotion out of it I think it was a good hit that went wrong. Was not worth ruining the Origin Series over. What a load of shit. 8 minutes into game 1 and it's over.

This was always coming if not in origin for the chooks as he comes in flying off centre all the time
            usually just doesn’t connect
as players and reds are paid to play through fans they need to follow rugby and make red cards a 20 min bin and after that you can bring another player on just not the player who got sent off so the game and spectacle is not ruined

              Agreed.

I've said it before but a 'SEND OFF' is for ridiculous incidents such as assaulting officials or spectators. It's an intentionally game breaking decision that is to be reserved for extremely uncommon incidents that are so far outside the rules of the game that the ref needs the power to basically say 'leave the stadium... NOW... you are farking lucky the police aren't involved at this moment, son'. Not for any tackle that Anusley decides to do a crackdown on suring his morning shower.

If V'landys / Anusley wanna have their stupid crackdowns (in order to avoid their fear of US style mega litigation - which will NEVER happen BTW as Australian law doesn't work that way) then they should introduce a new 20 minute bin or something. Not re-purpose an old rule for usage during crackdowns.

Klein should get 8 weeks for ruining another game.

That's a pretty accurate assessment imo.

JS has the old school aggression in him. For a hyped up teenager, it seems his best traits are his aggression and willingness to run hard and put his body on the line.

Unfortunately he’s gotten this one horribly wrong.

Irrespective of the poor playing judgement on his behalf. If you're playing rep footy for a state and you screw up then don't bloody punish the player's club (us - Roosters in this case). Strip the player's entire origin pay packet ffs. It's not f*cking fair on the Roosters and our fan base that we gotta lose JS for a few matches even if it's against teams that we should beat and realistically only x3 games (that is beside the point here).

Rep footy issue ... deal with it on that level !

Not sure how they came to the decision that it was reckless—it wasn't even careless—at most dangerous contact.

Walsh slipped and was falling; the tackle itself didn't cause any problems; the head hitting the ground caused the "concussion." It's no different from tackles when a player is back slammed and their head hits the ground; don't see defenders sent off for these types of tackles as it's deemed a good tackle.

One could argue that Adrian Morley's tackle below fits into the reckless and/or careless category, as he did have other options. Joseph-Aukuso Sua'ali'i's tackle was not like that one and thus should not have been deemed to be reckless.

Teddy got taken out by St Merge winger couple yrs ago, v similar. Think the player got 4 weeks.
Wade Graham face (Triple M call) said it all, It's a send off.
Then I stopped watching the game as it was goodnight Irene. Unfortunate for Jo.

In terms of further punishment for a big hit gone wrong, I would suggest the early send-off is definitely punishment enough. No additional suspension should be required.

The kid would feel terrible. Emotions from the penthouse to the basement. Then getting verballed by poo-boy Myles on exit.

Guys like Aussie Joe are what Origin is/should be all about.

Honestly the roosters won’t loose anything with Suaali out he is an overated and overhyped liability anyway
He is just keeping the centre warm until Billy smith comes back

I was more concerned with Leniu knee and praying he hadn’t done an acl
