What was his latest injury?
I have asked a few people about Billy Smith, and the response is that he's a few weeks away for what it's worth. How long is a few weeks? I'm not sure, so have to wait and see if his name appears on a team list in the not-too-distant future

Surgery was 10 weeks ago for Billy, supposedly 8-10 week recovery before he could get back into full running and he said 2 weeks ago that everything was on track so hoping that means back at training now or very close.
Given he hasn't been able to run for the last 3 months though I would imagine they'd want to get his fitness levels up before they even look at a return.

Obviously it will sink in later for some, but Billy Smith will never be a full time NRL player. It's ok to consider him a back up depth player and if he is ever available, it's a bonus. However he should never be relied upon to be in the starting 13, his body isn't up to it. The chances of Rob Toia being one are pretty slim too, however you couldn't completely write him off yet. The worst thing is the club haven't seemed to plan for this and we have no NRL First Grade standard Centre's at the club signed up for next season.

I obviously feel sorry for him because he’s got talent but we aren’t a charity.
He’s essentially been unavailable for half a decade. The club would be well within its rights to move him on.
From some reports Manu will be back mid-next year anyway but yeah the centres next year are a big concern. Would probably be Dom Young and Pauga at this stage.
Has there been an official announcement on Toops’ future? Hope he gets one more given the state of the back 5.Last edited by weplayforprems; 06-08-2024, 07:46 AM.
