ROOSTERS SQUAD v EELS
Round 15 - 7:35pm, Saturday 15th June
CommBank Stadium, Sydney
Well rested after a bye and hopefully still embarrassed from a squandered opportunity against the Cows, the Roosters line up this week against an average Eels.
Deprived of punch in the forwards, and a lack of composure across the park, we committed game-a-cide in our last outing. I've looked for excuses, but the reality is from 14-4 up we should not have lost that game. How we play this week is anyone's guess. If the lobotomy scars have healed we should win comfortably, although Parra have shown that with Moses and Gutherson on board they can be a different proposition. If we play like we did against the Cows, we'll get done, again. If we play properly, we'll lap them.
Origin reps back on board, we should revert to our 'punch through the middle and then put points on' game. Parra let in an average of 28 points this season, and we average 29 scored. I expect us to beat that. I'm thinking 34+. We lead Parra on every stat (in the NRL Key Stats) heading into this match except "Wins at this venue", where they sit on 63% and us at 62% - and that's at their home ground.
One big surprises with the team. After the recent hysteria, the Cheese has been left out. Watson starts at 9, and Sandon retains the 14.
Pauga will play left center in the enforced absence of Little Joe. I don't think we lose out much there to be honest. The remainder is consistent with the last few games - Rads stays on the edge with Whyte at lock. Wong, Tupouniua, Steep & Jennings drop out of the squad with Teddy, Collins, Leniu & Chrichton all returning.
A little rain predicted for Saturday, but it shouldn't be enough to cause any issues.
