  • Braith (Again)

After seeing the team for this week I sincerely hope that Smithy doesn't believe that Braith has earned the right to leave the Roosters on his own terms.

Mortimer has shown far greater hunger, determination and most importantly impact in all his appearances thus far and is now a key component if we are to continue building in 2012.

Sadly for Braith he would not be entitled to be picked in the pack either. Despite many pundits swearing lock is his best position his stats do not even come close to confirming this.

Braiths leadership skills and in particular his off field leadership have been well documented however premierships are won on the field and Braiths on field performances are substandard.

I dont like to be critical of individuals but the team must come first.

Minnie for Skipper and Mortimer to be given the rest of the season at six. If we can stay in it we can win it.

I would love someone to actually quantify his value as a leader.. We always hear what a great leader he is but I want something tangible.. Someone to actually provide recent examples of this leadership and how the team benefited from this.. I am with you on Mortimer.. He isn't a great player by any stretch of the imagination but he brings energy and enthusiasm to the team. He is undersized but has a dig in defence and is a fantastic support player.. He is simply not an organizer but with Pearce in the team he can play his role and make a contribution to the team. Anasta doesn't offer anything..

People here have been saying that the club won't sack Anasta from the Captaincy for bad publicity and to keep sponsors happy.. Bad publicity is losing games... It was good enough for the club to strip Fitzy and ironically replace him with Anasta as Captain when we were in the top 8 back in 2008, what good reason is there not to sack Anasta as Captain now in 2012 when he is leaving at the end of the year and we are out of the 8.. Once he is replaced as Captain he will be forced to earn his spot as a player.. This may give him a little more urgency and if he instead chooses to sulk then drop him and we can move forward... We just need someone at the club to make some hard decisions whoever that may be.

How about an Anasta sub-forum? I'm being serious.

I wasn't a user of forums in the FOFF heyday.. I wonder if there's more negativity now or then..

He did well to stop King at the line.

Smith knows that Braith loses us games but doesnt want to put him anywhere else. Since Braith is skipper Smith thinks that Braith must be satisfied and put on the team. Grow some balls Smithy even Kearney would drop him!

Honestly, I think it is more. At least Finch tried, and failed miserably, but you could see the frustration on his face whenever something he tried failed disastrously. Anasta seems as though he could not give a shit.

"You're off your head, you're off your bloody head" has been replaced with "I've been playing this game a long time and I've not seen that before sir."

                    I think there's 2 reasons for that:

                    1. He had just got punched in the head out of no where in the first instance
                    2. He's as sick of the decisions as the rest of us and is over arguing with the refs every time with nothing changing.. trying the nice approach.

You may well be right about the first one G.H. but the second one i'm not so sure of. The man has been told he's no longer wanted but he's still the captain and the main playmaker, it makes absolutely NO sense.

A trip down memory lane... still makes me laugh at the ref and the whole situation...

I love this comment "hahahahaah classic conversation between a captain and a ref. only in rugby leage can you straight up belt someone in the face and not get kicked off the field"

For me Anasta is much worse than Finch. To be honest I thought Finch was an ok player. He was just an arrogant kind of guy that people looked at and took a disliking too, I saw him at Randwick Races one day and he was very wary of talking at first. Seems some Roosters supporters had been abusing him. Guess I thought I was one of them at first and I kind of wanted to punch him in the head (I never would, just got the feeling) but once he got over his paranoia he seemed much nicer.

He takes leadership during restarts. Sadly it also ends there.

As I've said before, at least Finch had heart. He tried his balls out every time he pulled on our jumper. Same can't be said for Anasta.
