How many times have we conceded 18 points this year? I swear it feels like more than at least 4 times… so annoying that we don’t keep teams to single digits anymore but happy with the dub either way

    10 times

We rank 3rd for fewest points conceded at 19.4pts per game.

Only Penrith 15.4pts and Canterbury 16.2 average less.

Seems very tough this year to defend when momentum goes against you, it’s such an open game. If you can keep a side to under 3 tries that’s an excellent defensive effort these days.

Great. Dogs next week. I think they have beaten us 2 out of the last 3 times. Our victory over them was by 1 point.

Our team could be really patched up.

Who knows what we will serve up.

The game is too fast these days. The 6 again and quick tap rule is designed to generate more points with less of a low scoring grind style game. Fatigue is another by-product of the newish rules which creates more points scoring opportunities.

Looking at tonight specifically parra's 3 tries and penalty goal came during a 15min period (35-49min). During that time, JWH was binned controversially, and some of their milking was pathetic. The only thing that I think we needed to do better during that period was stop the offloads. Brown had a couple of good moments as well, but the officials gave them everything.

The game this year is all about attack and tries. Conceding 18 is actually pretty good compared to other teams.

                18 is the new 10.

our attack is humming and scoring more points than the opposition will always work out well but we've got room for improvement in d. in every game this year we've defended well for the main but a few errors have proved costly, e.g. today keary jumping out of the line for their first try. if we can stay on point for the full 80 we will win the comp this year

Precisely. It’s very rare to keep a side to zero with the pace of the game today. Penrith did it recently.

Maybe it is about time Hargreaves tackles lower him and Victor are in the Refs sights so anything they do is penalised and sin binned. There is no way we can beat the good teams with 12 players

The play of the ball before the Brown try was interesting. The eels player was tackled low but wasn't held. Manu and Radley then come in to make a tackle but the eels player plays the ball. For me it should have been a knock on as no tackle was made.

If Lane doesn't slip, it's a legal tackle. And probably a big hit. I'm not a fan of taking the big hit outta the game. The issue isn't the tackle. To your point, why are Rads and JWH unfairly targeted by the refs? What are the repercussions for a ref who incorrectly bins a player, who then goes on to get the charge cleared by the judiciary?

I know it's a vastly different game today, but I would love to see defence be our focus in the back half of the year, a la 2013 when we held sides to nil on four or five occasions throughout the season. I think our defence will decide our fate and we're not far off where we need to be. Come on boys!
