  • NRL Round 15 Judiciary Update: JWH and Whyte Charged

Following the Sydney Roosters Round 15 match against the Parramatta Eels, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Naufahu Whyte have been cited by the Match Review Committee.

Waerea-Hargreaves was issued with a Grade One Careless High Tackle Charge for an incident that occurred in the 33rd minute of the match.

Should Waerea-Hargreaves elect to enter an early guilty plea, he will receive a monetary fine of $3000.

If found guilty at the judiciary, however, he will be unavailable for two matches.

Whyte was issued with a Grade One Dangerous Contact Charge for an incident that occurred in the 70th minute of the match.

Should Whyte elect to enter an early guilty plea, he will receive a monetary fine of $1000.

If found guilty at the judiciary, however, he will receive a monetary fine of $1500.

Waerea-Hargreaves and Whyte have until Monday at 12pm to enter their pleas.

There were no other judiciary concerns for the other players that featured in the match.

The MRC sucks, if Jared lowers himself to brace for a tackle they clash heads due to the way Lane lost his footing and fell foward before contact was made - ****ing bullshit charge.

Whyte was lucky, that was a dumb way to try and turn over a held player, could have popped his arm out - do not do that mma submission shit on the football field.

Can I ask what JWH could do differently? When a player drops at the last second it’s impossible to alter your tackling technique.
NRL are applying law for a contact sport that are defying physics.
It seems like in commentary they mentioned his tackling technique is wrong. The issue is the game has changed so great legs tackles are penalised with a quick play the balls, offload to the opposition + you risk HIA for a legs tackles. This means players tackle higher so increases the risk of head high
One thing they could do is reward a legs tackle as a dominant tackle so the play the ball speed is reduced.

It's about time the club fined the NRL whenever their criminal refs or corrupt bunker are proven to have made incorrect decisions against our team.

We'd soon claw back these nonsense fines they keep handing out to us.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Agree with the Whyte one, Jared's is just total bullshit.

Watching the Dragons v Manly game and Tuipolotu clocked Garrick in a tackle far worse than Jared's. Penalty and om report, not thought of a sin bin there.

If you're the tackler, you can't hit players in the head with your shoulder, arm, elbow, forearm, no matter what.
No matter if they're falling, it's accidental, or some other reason.
                  What does JWH do now?
                  Tackle around the stomach.
Put his head down to just above the hip, point of shoulder into stomach/lowest point of rib cage).

Meanwhile in the Dragons v Manly game, Dragons winger Christian Tuipouloto hits Reuben Garrick in the head with his shoulder (with at least moderate force ). Ref doesn't send him for 10 in the bin or award a penalty for Manly, next play Garrick is sent for a HIA by the 'Independent Doctor' and ruled Cat. 1 missing the rest of the game. These muppets are either just really bad at their jobs, or something more sinister is going on......

They penalised him and put it on report, but he didn't get binned. See my comment a couple of posts above

Problem is he tackled someone last night just above the hip, and the ref penalised him for that as well, he is a massively marked man with the refs and held to a different level of accountability to other players.

Then a "bear hug" tackle...on display today in the Knights/Panthers game.
Tackler stands still, opens arms wide, allows attacking player to approach, then hugs player and tumbles over.

Thanks, coach. You should volunteer to put him through drills on this novel approach. I assume you have your coaching accreditation up to date.

He needs to reduce the amount of force from “moderate” according to the farkwit referee from last night. FFS this is becoming a game for wimps. Touch footy here we come.
