  • We need to blood some new backs.

Next year we need some backs.
    Ethan King ?
    who else ?
we need 2 centres for next year, let’s give some young blokes a chance.
best time of the year to give them a go.

We should also rest Joey Manu and keep him fit for finals.

Rest Manu? We had a bye two weeks ago, and against Parra, he didn’t do that much work. Joeys big meter games come from playing fullback, we barely have an option at centre if he is out, and we have two byes left in the season.

i see no reason to rest him.

      I don’t think so.

There are 2 byes left so there's no need to rest. we need to finish in top 4

Lewis Murphy and Rob Toia will hopefully be thereabouts next year - not sure if either will be fit for some minutes this year. Also have Marky Mark coming over, so there are a few options.

Lewis Murphy should be back playing by now?

                As of 5 days ago:

"Following non-surgical rehabilitation, Lewis Murphy will have a plaster removed following a scaphoid fracture before going into a splint. He will resume full-time training, with an aim to return to the field in the coming weeks. "

I’m sorry but this is a terrible take, we have plenty of centres for next year :

                  Marky Mark
                  Junior Pauga
                  Billy Smith
                  Robert Toia
                  Ethan King

I think the re-signing or Topou was a big as he brings experience and respect from the young boys

it’s almost impossible to replace Manu , otherwise I think we are strong backline for next year.

hopefully for 2026 we can sign Cobbo

Three of the five listed above have not played first grade NRL while one has barely played since his debut in 2019. The other is just a fill in player.

Other than Tupou I reckon our three-quarters looked just as imposing in the early 90s.

If we rest Manu now, there might not be finals.

It's a fantastic take, 3 of those guys have never played Centre in the NRL. 3 of those are always injured and the other is a good backup but probably not a starter. That 5 would be the worst Centre roster in the NRL.

Lewis Murphy was only signed for 1 year on a development contract - Not sure if he will be re-signed - Has only played 4 games so far this season in NSW Cup - Rounds 4 / 5 / 6 and 8

Unfortunately for him just after signing with the Roosters he did his ACL so that put him behind the 8 ball from the get go - missed round 7 with a hammy and has been out since round 9 with the scaphoid fracture

LOL we can always rely on Cockas to pop in now and then with a great one liner

I think what Keith is saying is that we should be looking at getting some of our up and coming backs some sort of experience/game time this year in readiness for next year when we potentially could be short in that space.

I think he is right but the problem is:

                              a) there is no one that really stands out that could get a look-in from NSW Cup or below.
                              b) we are in a precarious position ladder-wise which does not lend itself to standing down players at the moment.
