  • Wong did no Whyte

    Terrible puns, and I apologise.

Really wanted him to stamp his mark in the team with others out.

Love him, want him to be a gun in our future - think he needs to step it up and own it (which would be really difficult in a team of talent).

Thought he was really solid today, did great in defence and all his runs were solid, didn’t get dominated and almost broke for a try if not for a kikau tackle.

As long as we can keep him, him Whyte, Leniu and May are gonna be a powerful fast forward pack that works hard

He did ok, he’s an edge forward stepping up over the origin period to cover for a prop shortage. Outside of effort I don’t think we should read too much into his play and I thought he had a real crack today.

With Radley moving to right edge and Blake Steep coming through though his path to first grade has become a little more muddied. Hoping after the origin period he can go back onto an edge in reserve grade and put some good performances in to break his way back into the top 17 again.

I agree. I feel like the club has a dearth of edge prospects and is a bit shallow for middles. Maybe there is a project to try to convert some of the edge players to new age props.

On a side note, what happened to Whyte tonight?

The only way you really get to be a consistently good first grader is playing every week in the one position.
If Wong played every week on an edge he would get more confident & get better.
It takes a couple of years of playing first grade before players get really confident & fully back themselves.

If he wants to play first grade, he will have to play where the coach decides. The pack went well

Towards the end of the game I saw him getting ready to come back on but perhaps they just kept May on .

don’t think there was an injury
