20 teams play each other once and only 5 teams twice
You can imagine when 20 teams who the Roosters will play twice - Storm/ Broncos/Souths/Parramatta - and either Dragons or Penrith
Currently a 204 game regular season with 17 teams so with more teams it will be more games so broadcast rights revenue should increase and sponsorship revenue and opportunities as well - i.e naming rights of the conferences and divisions for an example.
Surely when new teams are added they will have conferences when 18 teams and conferences with divisions when 20 teams
- 18 teams - 2 conferences of 9 teams - play teams in your conference twice and other conference once - 25 rounds - 250 game regular season - Top 4 in each conference qualify for finals - top 5 if a 10 team finals series.
- 20 teams - 2 conferences each with 2 divisions of 5 teams - play all teams once and teams in your division twice - 23 rounds - 230 game regular season - Top 2 in each division qualify for finals ( 8 teams) - if 10 team final series - 3rd placed teams play off for the last 2 finals places.
