Some clubs like the Chooks have an advantage when it comes to TPA's.
People like Nick, Bouris & Gyngall have rich friends who are willing to privately sponsor players
You can have a 20M or 30M dollar team
Im not totally sure what the set up of the Thoroughbred was but they were able to privately pay players god knows how much extra (like the Chooks can) to keep them at the Broncos back in Tallis"s days of playing so technically they werent cheating the cap.
Let me make in clear I DONT THINK THE CHOOKS CHEAT THE CAP but they are able to use TPA's to a great advantage & its all legal thats what most other supporters who carry on about the Chooks cheating the cap dont get.
TPAs can only be paid by independent 3rd parties Mickie, like when a player organises his own separate sponsorship from a sporting goods company for example. Pretty sure payments from Nick’s rich mates wouldn’t be considered legitimate TPAs. I’m also fairly sure that TPAs aren’t a significant source of income for most players these days including us and the broncos.

Because I would hate to support a piss weak club that cries over what some fat, bald, 2 headed inbred thinks. Imagine being a club so soft they get upset over what someone’s thoughts are. I mean every single non Roosters supporter actually thinks we do cheat the cap & im honest enough to say I think to a degree in one way or another we’ve dabbled in it, but do clearly have others. It’s 100% certain every year a club cheats the system one way or another, but it’s catching them & proving they’re doing it that’s the issue.

I agree with that but it still does happen.
TPA's are murky business done between clubs, managers & the 3rd party.
You are kidding yourself if you think players organise their own TPA's.

If a car company for instance (Mercedes Benz Australia Pty Ltd) wanted to give TPA's to say Teddy & Nick had a share in a Mercedes dealership (which he has) & he knew the CEO of Mercedes the NRL couldnt do anything about it.
Bouris would know so many people in the finance industry & if he is mates with the CEO of Westpac & Westpac wanted to give TPA's to say Rads there is nothing the NRL could do to stop it.
How could the NRL prove that Nick or Bouris instigated the TPA?

These things all need to be registered with the NRL I don’t have the current figures but the Roosters are said to have benefited less than most other clubs. In 2019, we had the third fewest:

Talking of thoroughbreds..who was the coach paid 2 mill on the sky?.
Read old Roy Master SMH stories..after running an investigation for months all swept under the carpet..no conclusion..Masters didn't get sued either..so? I have 2 answers..but they will get me sued

I think TPAs have a limit so a club like the roosters and broncos cannot have a $20 mill team. I could be wrong.

There is no cap on TPA's

One of our Directors (Mark Fennessy) had a meal with Tallis recently - I wonder if he was threatened with legal action if he continued accusing us of cheating the cap?

I have noticed that Tallis has since softened his comments about our Club …

Can I ask how do you know that?

G’day Mickie. I heard the same thing, Bryan Fletcher was talking about it on his SEN afternoon radio show. Wasn’t the usual Fletcher comedy stuff, it was a serious discussion. Matty Johns was on as well and he also said Tallis had asked him if he wanted to go.

I've noticed recently he poses it as 'I feel for other fans' or 'I'm just saying how the average fan feels' before running our club into the ground

Wonder if Tallis will complain about the brown paper bag he received at that meal to keep quiet

                            • Anyone catch the idiot’s comment on 360 tonight? On Sammy Walker and the Broncos he said ‘sometimes with good players around you, you are happy to go to a club for LESS money’. Gobsmacked. Lol, too many knocks to the head or just a biased hypocrite?

I did, and had a nuclear blowup at the tv for his unabashed hypocrisy. Then calmed down after reminding myself that we already knew he was a shameless hypocrite, so why waste the energy.
