There is a French saying If only the young could know, if only the old could do.
Already in 2012 we have seen a number of great highlights for the club with our young squad showing enormous signs of something big building just around the corner.
Our brightest light however has come in the form of a man who whilst approaching his 32nd birthday is making a mockery of the age-old French saying.
Mini, The Count or Cat as he is affectionately known, is playing his best football since the serious back injury that saw him sit out almost two seasons on the trot so it was no surprise when he signed a one year contract extension just weeks ago,
"I am absolutely stoked to be here it will be 17 years at the club and I couldn't think of anywhere else I'd rather be," Minichiello said.
Desperately unlucky not to hold on to his Blues Origin jersey, Mini has made everyone stand up and take notice that the Cat is not going anywhere in a hurry.
" vvv I think I have been playing some pretty good footy, much better than last year anyway," Minichiello said.
"This past month has been my most consistent in a while and hopefully I can keep it up and the luck will turn for the team."
Consistent is one thing, excellent is another.
Mini currently sits third in the most run metres in the entire competition and second in most hit-ups, second only to Paul Gallen.
His performances have been crucial in ensuring a couple of victories already this season.
Unfortunately there haven't been enough of these victories so far in 2012, with Minichiello adamant the team will soon start turning these tight losses in to victories.
"We have been playing a really physical game this year and if we stick to our guns and keep doing it we will come up with the win," he said.
"This young group of boys are so enthusiastic and they always want to learn. There is never any whinging after a loss, we just all rip in and I have really enjoyed that this year."
"The more games we play this season the better we are going to get."
Now as mentioned earlier Mini does in fact turn 32 this week, on Thursday so what is he doing to celebrate the occasion?
"I am actually heading down to Melbourne to watch the Origin," he said.
"Of course I am disappointed not to be playing, it's Origin, but I will be cheering the boys on down there and I think if they all play their best they will come away with the win."
2nd in metres only to Gallen! Good stuff Mini! From Roosters web.
