It would be a case of Watson starting at lock, then moving to hooker when Cheese needs a spell, with Whyte at lock then.

You would assume so but, given it's vs
St George, i believe it's 1975 GF commemoration.

(context: it was that COVID game where they locked out Easts fans, SBW had returned and I was out the front yelling 'caaaaaarnt Sonny... whoooooo.... gaaaaaw Rooooosters!!!!').

Answer: 'I'm all good thanks... I'm just like this'

Cops: 'The bad news is that we can't force you to move on then. The good news is that you're allowed to drive, so we suggest you get in your car and go home for your own safety as we're not your personal bodyguards'.

At least Jenko is a centre by trade. Would be less confident if we had 2 back rowers there.

Unfortunately Sandon has dropped in the pecking order since Watto has come back and is in career best form. His versatility and improvement at dummy half has given us the luxury of playing him for 80 minutes covering lock and hooker when Cheese needs a break. Then come on with Whyte at lock.

We can't just put him in to get minutes at the expense of someone like Keary or Walker. We can't afford to weaken the team when wins are vital. Having him on the bench is a waste of a bench spot and at who's expense. Whyte, May, Leniu, Butcher? Just so he can play 10-15 minutes.

His minutes need to come in NSW Cup. Simple as that. Touch wood there are no injuries and it stays that way.

Eventually he could be our permanent half or 5/8 but it won't be this year. Plus we also have a couple potential guns coming through. So something has to give with one or two of them further down the track.

This is another absolutely must win game to take pressure of us and allow for a loss or 2 for upcoming matches against top teams. I’m not yet confident in this team’s ability to match it with the top sides. Our records against them is dismal.

Not a silly suggestion for this week.

Aside from our current issues in the centres, in normal circumstances, with no disrespect to Watson, I think we are much stronger with Whyte at 13 and Watson at 14.

People bag him but I'm quite comfortable with his defence and effort. IMO with the squad we've got (including crazy good wingers & a crazy good FB) all he's gotta do is read the game so that Lomax/Sloan don't make 50m every time they get the ball.

One thing Jenko's very good at is reading footy... I'd argue he's also still a shorter, nuggetie kinda bloke who's extremely difficult to tackle.

IMO he was a terrific signing. Cost us nothing and plugs the biggest risk with our current backline, which would be putting a clueless rookie in there who is a serious liability. Thus far we haven't had to do that (despite our injury/suspension woes in the centres... two of which have been law of the lash style 4-5 week suspensions).

To those questioning Whyte's minutes and his place in the team, you only need to go back about 5 or 6 weeks and we were saying the same thing about Terrell May. Whyte had a few games in a row where he started and played decent minutes, now he's being rested. It's a long season and this is his first full season in the NRL. The coach likes to try and spread the workload over the course of the season rather than have the same guys playing big minutes all the time.

I hate Klein but TBH the alternatives are no better. Who's that young red headed dude with the beard? Forget his name. Smith or something. Last few times I've seen him he's completely lost control of the game, allowing the opposition to run amok on us (while penalising us for trivial BS).

IMO a good ref neither controls the game nor loses control of it. They allow the game to flow naturally.

                                Todd Smith?

I used to think he was fairly decent, but watching him ref Easts games, I soon concluded he's frigging useless.
