So often you will see big forwards have a breather and ball watch whilst the play has moved away from the middle third. Lindsay is always moving and ready to plug a hole if the ball is turned back inside or make a cover tackle which he so often does. He'll walk into the Kangaroos squad. His experience moving beyond this season will be priceless once the Big Dog retires!
Not sure how many others picked up on this effort live but, NSW get an overlap on last tackle and Crichton puts in a little grubber. Lindsay is mid-field and has absolutely no right to beat outside backs and halves to the ball but he’s the first player there to clean up the kick and defuse the play. His effort off the ball is insane.

You can see the full play here at 7:15 minutes into the video. https://youtu.be/crkJTZRRWV0?si=z9Ep_7gl9XO2OkFu

I think Lindsay is a starting prop when it comes to rotations. Billy got it wrong. Some guys love to set the standard from the whistle, I reckon Linds is that guy. He struggles for his best groove with second use of the bathwater. Just my take.

On his speed, he would probably win a props race over say 50m. He can gallop. BBR may have a point though, with his speed of body movement in the tighter clinches.

On his size, I don't think he is a natural big body. He used to be a winger. He has worked hard in the gym and training to fill out that height. But he's tough and he's got a big heart. He'll be back...Robbo knows what drives him.

I think you are missing the point. He isn't bending the line like he once did.

Other facets of his game have improved out of sight though.

I was responding specifically to this part of the opening post.

“he doesn't seem as mobile as maybe he once was or have the leg speed with the ball or without.”

As I outlined in my post I couldn’t disagree more. His work ‘without the ball’ is unmatched by any other prop in the game and I just highlighted another example of this from the game last night in a game of elite intensity he got the ball before a bunch of outside backs and halves.

I’m not really going to comment on his ball carrying as I think that’s an evolution of his role rather that a deterioration of his skill set.

Love Lindsay and his attitude to working off the ball. He may not have the fancy late footwork that allows him to jink between defenders and bend the line, he is a very meat and potatoes front rower. But he does his role.

Some of the best front rowers were exactly the same, they just run straight and hard, Petero & Webcke come to mind. To be honest it may look ineffective, but i bet opposition teams hate it. It would just wear you down mentally and physically knowing this bloke is going to keep charging straight at you and there is no easy way to put him down then putting your body in front and copping the collision.

With all the big minutes he's played this year he probably needs a rest.

Collins has never been an impact player - starting him from the bench was a bit strange
He is a prop that will get you 100m and 25 tackles per game.
His off the ball work is second to none however
                  All effort.

I agree he gets to defensive positions in cover no other prop would get near

And he does lack mobility, compared to say someone like Leniu. Lindsay is in some ways, lumbering. If you know what that word means 6. That's all I'm saying.
That effort a couple of weeks back against the Dragons where he cleaned up a spilled ball on the ground, got straight back up and found Teddy who raced away , was massive!
Not many would have got back up once diving on the ball! Very agile play from the big man.

No doubting his heart or his motor or anything like that. I hope I'm wrong.

Absolutely it was. I love Lindsay, I'm not questioning his overall contribution at all. His overall contribution is immense.

IMO he is well worth his spot for effort energy and defence. I do think his yardage game is affected by a lack of footwork at the line. He runs flat out and doesn’t get many PCMs as opposed to a May who hits it up slower but uses footwork.
